Border officials discover more than 100 illegal migrants hiding in Texas stash house

Increasing evidence of an out-of-control immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border came to light recently after federal law enforcement officials discovered over 100 migrants in a Texas-based stash house, according to Breitbart

Breitbart reported the shocking discovery on Saturday, citing an official statement tweeted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) which revealed that those arrested in the raid were “nationals of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.”

The CBP statement pointed out that the roughly 100 migrants packed into the small home were not wearing any kind of personal protective equipment, suggesting that such large, untested groups could easily spread COVID-19.

“Stash house incidents such as this pose a threat not only to the people exploited by human smuggling but also to the people and safety of our Nation,” CBP added in the statement.

Biden admin halts border wall

While discoveries such as this one should clearly underscore the need for additional border security measures, President Joe Biden’s administration appears to be moving in the opposite direction, given their recent actions.

It was on Friday that the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) revealed in a press release that it plans to reallocate some $2.2 billion in federal funding away from border wall construction, a controversial project that began under former President Donald Trump as a means to stem a portion of the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States.

The DoD’s statement went on to say that Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks has approved a plan to shift the large pile of money towards other construction projects, with many of those projects based overseas.

“Texas will not sit idly by”

While the Biden administration might not be interested in constructing a border wall, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has made clear that he plans on taking action to build one himself.

According to the Austin-American Statesman, Abbott voiced his intention on Thursday to construct border barriers along the Rio Grande in his effort to take action on the surging crisis, as the Biden administration clearly isn’t interested in doing at the current time.

“I will announce next week the plan for the state of Texas to begin building the border wall in the state of Texas,” the governor announced during a recent press conference.

“While securing the border is the federal government’s responsibility, Texas will not sit idly by as this crisis grows,” Abbott added. “This is an unprecedented crisis, and Texas is responding with the most robust and comprehensive border plan the nation has ever seen.”

Thankfully, we have governors like Abbott who have the fortitude to push forward on controversial issues in the name of keeping Americans safe. A border wall isn’t the ultimate solution to fighting the spike in illegal immigration, but it can certainly act as an effective deterrent.
