Study shows Trump was right about hydroxychloroquine as potential treatment for COVID

Evidence is building that former President Donald Trump was correct when he said that hydroxychloroquine may be an effective treatment for the coronavirus.

A new study published by medRxiv shows that the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine, when coupled with zinc, greatly improved the outcomes for coronavirus patients, the Washington Examiner reported.

“We found that when the cumulative doses of two drugs, HCQ and AZM, were above a certain level, patients had a survival rate 2.9 times the other patients,” the study’s authors wrote.

The study concluded that this treatment “greatly increases survival,” particularly in ventilated patients with a severe version of the illness.

Studies shut down

While he was still president, Trump mentioned hydroxychloroquine as a possibly effective treatment for the coronavirus.

He was immediately shot down by so-called experts, who insisted the drug was an “unproven” and “disproved” treatment for the illness, with some even going so far to say that hydroxychloroquine was “dangerous,” despite the fact that the antimalarial drug had been safely in use for over half of a century, as the Washington Examiner noted.

The Food and Drug Administration ultimately ended hydroxychloroquine’s emergency use authorization and trials testing the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine as a coronavirus treatment were suspended.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also advised people to stop using hydroxychloroquine.

Experts were wrong

Now, it’s becoming more and more clear that Trump was right — or at least those advising Trump were right. The fact is, however, that even the so-called experts knew hydroxychloroquine had potential as a treatment for COVID-19, but refused to admit it.

Over a year ago, for example, in April 2020, a French study showed that hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc had some success treating the coronavirus. A similar study was published a few months later.

Furthermore, as the Washington Examiner reported, “in June, another study, this one claiming that hydroxychloroquine was both dangerous and ineffective, was retracted and slammed as a ‘monumental fraud.’”

Who knows how many lives could have been saved if the experts — and social media giants who censored doctors and anyone who tried to promote hydroxychloroquine as an effective treatment for the deadly illness — would have let the evidence speak for itself. Instead, Trump Derangement Syndrome was in full effect and the results were devastating.
