Philadelphia, PA – Police arrested a suspected “serial killer” in connection with the murder of a Dunkin’ Donuts manager in the Fairhill neighborhood in North Philadelphia on Saturday morning.
Police said that incident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. on June 5 when 41-year-old Christine Lugo was opening up the Dunkin’ located in the 500-block of West Lehigh Avenue, KYW reported.
An assistant manager told police that the employee who was scheduled to be at the shop that morning with her had called off work late on Friday night so Lugo had to open the Dunkin’ by herself, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Police said Lugo was unlocking the door when a man with a gun grabbed her and forced her inside the restaurant.
The entire robbery and murder were captured on video.
Video from multiple surveillance cameras through the donut shop showed Gibson forcing Lugo to hand over money from a safe and from cash register drawers.
The gunman forced her to give him an undisclosed amount of money and then shot her in the head, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Detectives said that store was usually open 24 hours and was only closed because the overnight employee had called out, putting the mother of two directly in the path of Gibson’s killing spree hours later.
Police said that after he killed Lugo, Gibson went into nearby Delaware and shot a 19 year old in Wilmington and then pistol-whipped a female Rite Aid employee in New Castle, KYW reported.
But before this latest rampage, detectives said Gibson killed his own mother on Ridge Avenue on Feb. 8.
He was also suspected in the murder of a T-Mobile store employee in Elsmere, Delaware on May 15, KYW reported.

Authorities said that Gibson was convicted of a homicide and commercial burglary in Delaware in 2008 and had served time in prison.
Police released the store’s surveillance video of the incident to the public and asked for help from the community to identify and locate Lugo’s killer.
Sources told KYW that officers tracked Gibson to a location in Delaware over the weekend and took him into custody.
Police recovered a revolver when they arrested Gibson.
Sources said that the preliminary investigation indicated that gun was connected to all of the shootings Gibson is suspected of having committed, KYW reported.
Philadelphia police detectives said that Gibson has been labeled a serial killer.
