President Joe Biden has been diverting money from various healthcare programs to facilitate the entry of illegal immigrant children into America, according to a recent report from Politico.
“The Department of Health and Human Services [HHS] has diverted more than $2 billion meant for other health initiatives toward covering the cost of caring for unaccompanied immigrant children,” the outlet reported Saturday.
Where is the money coming from?
A large portion of the diverted funds reportedly came for money that was supposed to be spent on coronavirus-related issues.
According to Politico, $850 million came from funding that was allocated to rebuild America’s Strategic National Stockpile, the country’s emergency medical reserve which was depleted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another $850 million came from funding that was meant to be used to expand coronavirus testing.
According to the outlet, Biden took the remaining roughly $400 million from a myriad of other health initiatives.
The leaked government document
Politico‘s report follows an one from The New York Times that showed Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to spend some $9 billion to bring the children of illegal immigrants to America by October of this year.
The Times reportedly obtained the information from a leaked government document.
“Current projections show [a] preliminary budget estimate of $8.6b for FY21,” the document reads.
“OMB approved an additional transfer from HHS resources to the UC [UAC] programing the amount of $850 million this week,” the document continues. “This funding is not reflecting in this morning balance — will be added once [the] execution process is complete. There may be [an] additional $846.5 million available in future weeks. This will mitigate but not fully resolve the project budget shortfall.”
Since Biden became president, some 50,000 young migrants — many of them children — have crossed over into the United States and have been taken in by the U.S. government.
As Breitbart noted, “The transfer of funding to the growing population of more than 50,000 foreign children and youths means fewer resources for lower-profile American kids, as their diverse American parents are damaged by the Chinese virus, cheap labor migration, job losses, housing costs, drugs, or homelessness.”
