Democrat California Rep. Eric Swalwell is not relenting on his new feud with Republican Wyoming Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
It was Friday when a staffer for Rep. Greene challenged Rep. Swalwell for wearing a mask in the halls of Congress after being fully vaccinated.
After whining and complaining about the altercation on Twitter he went on the whine more to MSNBC host Christine Jansing.
“Her aide yelled at me, ‘Take off your mask, congressman.’ And I’ve just frankly had enough with these marauding goons in the Marjorie Taylor Greene crowd who go around trying to terrorize my colleagues,” he said as he accused Rep. Greene of doing something similar to New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this week and to Missouri Rep. Cori Bush earlier this year.
“I just thought the best way not to let people like this bully others is to tell the bullies to back off. So not surprisingly, this aide of hers got quite speechless after I had a few choice words for him,” he said.
“They detest what she stands for, but they don’t confront her or order her around because that’s just not what we do or what is supposed to be a civil discourse environment,” he claimed.
The altercation happened on Friday between Rep. Greene’s spokesman Nick Dyer and Rep. Eric Swalwell, reporter Scott Wong said on Twitter.
“Another verbal altercation just happened in the House: MTG’s spokesman Nick Dyer told @RepSwalwell: ‘Biden says you can take off your mask’ Swalwell confronted Dyer, got in his face and according to Dyer, said: ‘You don’t tell me what to f*cking do!’
“I saw the altercation but was not close enough to hear Swalwell,” he said.
But Swalwell did respond on Twitter.
“I had a mask on as I stepped off the Floor. An aide with @mtgreenee yelled at me to take my mask off. No one should be bullied for wearing a mask. So I told the bully what I thought of his order. Predictably, he went speechless. I regret I wasn’t more explicit,” he said.
Apparently Rep. Greene made a comment that alluded to the confrontation today, as reported by Michael McAuliff on Twitter.
“They support BLM riots, they support violence all over the streets. You got Eric Swalwell who had sex with a Chinese spy on the Intel Committee. They don’t care to remove him..and then Swalwell wants to assault my staff. They’re out of control,” she said.
On Wednesday Greene attempted to confront Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the New York representative avoided her, then whined about security, The Washington Post reported.
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene aggressively confronted Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday and falsely accused her of supporting “terrorists,” leading the New York congresswoman’s office to call on leadership to ensure that Congress remains “a safe, civil place for all Members and staff.”
Two Washington Post reporters witnessed Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) exit the House chamber late Wednesday afternoon ahead of Greene (Ga.), who shouted “Hey Alexandria” twice in an effort to get her attention. When Ocasio-Cortez did not stop walking, Greene picked up her pace and began shouting at her and asking why she supports Antifa, a loosely knit group of far-left activists, and Black Lives Matter, falsely labeling them “terrorist” groups. Greene also shouted that Ocasio-Cortez was failing to defend her “radical socialist” beliefs by declining to publicly debate the freshman from Georgia.
“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene yelled at Cortez. “Why do you support terrorists and Antifa?”
Cortez only turned one time to look at Greene and show her exasperation but did not stop to actually engage with the congresswoman.
“Representative Greene tried to begin an argument with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and when Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tried to walk away, Congresswoman Greene began screaming and called Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer,” Lauren Hitt, a spokeswoman for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, said. “We hope leadership and the Sergeant at Arms will take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place for all Members and staff — especially as many offices are discussing reopening. One Member has already been forced to relocate her office due to Congresswoman Greene’s attacks.”
But before she left, Rep. Greene talked briefly to reporters and shot straight from the hip.
“She’s a chicken, she doesn’t want to debate the Green New Deal,” she said. “These members are cowards. They need to defend their legislation to the people. That’s pathetic.”
