TEXAS – Following a Twitter post made by Rep. Ilhan Omar where she was accusing Israel of “terrorism” for reported airstrikes that killed Palestinians, Texas Senator Ted Cruz responded to that allegation made by Rep. Omar by proclaiming the Minnesota congresswoman as “acting as the press secretary for Hamas.”

Conflict has been an ongoing issue between Israel and the area known as Palestine, which happens to be host to the Palestinian terror organization Hamas.
Omar has been rather unapologetic with her anti-Israel sentiments, having a well-documented history of touting anti-Semitic rhetoric and talking points.
Thus, it is with little surprise to see Ilhan Omar tweet the following on May 10th:
“Israeli airstrikes killing civilians in Gaza is an act of terrorism. Palestinians deserve protection. Unlike Israel, missile defense programs, such as Iron Dome, don’t exist to protect Palestinian civilians. It’s unconscionable to not condemn these attacks on the week of Eid.”

Ilhan Omar made this proclamation on Twitter in response to allegations that 20 Palestinians had been killed due to an Israeli airstrike.
However, this airstrike was apparently in response to Hamas terrorists that had fired rockets at Israeli civilians.
Hamas, and Palestinians in general, have worked tirelessly to terrorize Israelis, aiming attacks at coveted areas such as Jerusalem and having recently attempted to lynch an Israeli man that had encountered a Palestinian mob.

Video has also surfaced of Israel’s Iron Dome intercepting many, but not all, of as much as 150 rockets that were fired by Palestinians on the evening of May 10th. Those rockets were apparently aimed at Israeli civilians, something that Ilhan Omar conveniently glossed over.
In response to the very poor take by the Minnesota congresswoman, Senator Ted Cruz responded with the following:
“Why is a member of Congress acting as the press secretary for Hamas? Does Biden agree?”

The only person that managed to up the ante with anti-Israel rhetoric was Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who stated on the evening of May 10th that the U.S. should no longer provide military aid to Israel because of the country’s “racism and dehumanization.”
The sort of rhetoric that Ilhan Omar engages in prompted quite a response from the Jewish community after she had been promoted to the position of Vice Chair on the Africa, Global Health, and Global Human Rights subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs back in February.
In a statement released by the Coalition for Jewish Values regarding Omar’s promotion, the following was noted:
“Omar, despite a history of support for organizations with ties to Islamic terror and condemnations of Israel sufficient to be voted “2019’s Anti-Semite of the Year” by StopAntiSemitism.org, was named Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations.”
The Zionist Organization of America proclaimed that Omar’s promotion “will help mainstreaming and legitimizing Israel-hatred and Jew-hatred,” and that someone of her caliber need “not be elevated”:
“Omar should certainly not be elevated to her new leadership position – which will give her an even bigger platform for spewing her hateful antisemitism, Israel-bashing and promotion of boycotts against the Middle East’s only human-rights-loving democracy, Israel.”

Back in December of 2020, Law Enforcement Today shared a report where Rep. Burgess Owens called for the stripping of committee assignments of Rep. Rashida Tlaib over her anti-semitism.
Here’s that previous report.
Representative-Elect Burgess Owens recently put out a statement that was in support of calls to see Rep. Rashida Tlaib removed from all congressional committees that started with Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, noting Tlaib’s recent anti-Semitic actions.

Earlier in December, Rep. Reschenthaler had some heavy criticism to dole out toward Rep. Tlaib over her participation in an anti-Israel conference and her recent Twitter post that carried a slogan associated with the eradication of Israel.
Back in late November, Tlaib was found to have shared a Twitter post (that she later amended) that read:
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
While seemingly innocuous to perhaps those oblivious to the history between Israel and Palestine, that phrase is associated with Palestine overtaking the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea – exactly where Israel happens to be.
You mean by calling for Israel’s destruction? Spin all you wish, but you can’t hide your true racist colors! pic.twitter.com/uNmAyl9UHd

In concurrence with that Twitter nonsense and Rep. Tlaib reportedly participating in a forum which is led by people with ties to Hamas and anti-Israel groups, Rep. Reschenthaler dropped the following statement:
“This week, Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib participated in a forum led by one of the nation’s most anti-Israel advocacy groups that featured other participants with reported connections to Hamas, terrorism financiers, and the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.”
“Rep. Tlaib’s participation in this conference, coupled with her recently deleted retweet of a slogan calling for the elimination of Israel, are just the latest examples of a deeply disturbing pattern of anti-Semitism that has been on display since she was elected. Yet Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats refuse to condemn her heinous behavior.”
The lack of condemnation from the left regarding Rashida Tlaib’s attendance at an anti-Israel conference last week is deeply disturbing. https://t.co/E0Fr16M93Z
— Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (@GReschenthaler) December 6, 2020
Reschenthaler explained that when one within the Republican side of the House made some racially-charged remarks, Republicans acted swiftly and both condemned and stripped the individual of their committee assignments:
“House Republicans demonstrated we have zero tolerance for hateful speech in our ranks. When outgoing Republican Congressman Steve King made inexcusable racist remarks, not only did he receive widespread condemnation from both sides of the aisle, but Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy rightfully stripped him of his committee assignments.”
“Speaker Pelosi, on the other hand, is deafeningly silent. By failing to act and hold Rep. Tlaib accountable, Pelosi is emboldening her and others to continue spreading and escalating this dangerous, hateful bigotry.”
The Republican Representative said that it “is past time” to shows Americans that members of the House will allow anti-Semitism go unchecked:
“It is past time we show the American people that there is no place in Congress, or anywhere, for this shameful intolerance. I call on my colleagues across the aisle to join me in calling for Rep. Tlaib to immediately lose her committee assignments.”
Burgess Owens – one of several newly-elected Republican House members – said he stands behind Rep. Reschenthaler’s remarks and that he too would like to see Rep. Tlaib disciplined for her racist rhetoric:
“I stand by Rep. Reschenthaler’s call to action for Speaker Pelosi to strip Rep. Tlaib of her Committee assignments.”
“As someone who has seen first-hand the horrors of prejudice and has seen our great country come so far, it is time we stand boldly against anti-Semitic rhetoric.”
“Whether coming from Hollywood or the halls of Congress, we owe it to our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community to say ‘no more.’”
Liking Burgess more and more! We need REAL leaders in our lost party!!

Tlaib is one of the individuals known for being a part of the “Squad”, while Rep-Elect Owens is one of the newly dubbed “Freedom Force” – a group that Owens says “will give a contrast to the hard left.”
