After a series of successful fundraisers, Chairman Michael Whatley of the Republican National Committee pledged that their team would ensure election integrity, including making sure that “thousands” of lawyers are in place to sue for electoral justice when breakdowns occur.
“You have to be in the room,” quipped Whatley on Sunday’s “The Cats Roundtable” at WABC 77A-NY.
“You’ve got to have observers and attorneys in the room when the votes are being cast and when the votes are being counted. So we’re in the process of recruiting tens of thousands of volunteers and thousands of attorneys all across the country so that when we get into the election season, we’re going to be in the room.”
The revamped Republican National Committee team would also work to ensure each state has “good rules of the road” to make sure that ballots are “protected.”
“So we’re working with the legislatures; we’re working with the boards of elections and the secretaries of states to make sure that the laws, the rules, and the regulations that cover elections are where we need them to be,” he said.
Whatley also warned that if rules, laws, and regulations were not in place where they should be, the Republican National Committee would file a case.
According to the Republican National Committee chair, they recently filed 80 lawsuits in 24 states to ensure that there are “good, solid” election rules in place.
Early last March, Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump also remarked in an interview that the committee is preparing to level up the fight for the 2024 presidential race.
“We’re not just gonna have to fight fire with fire; we’re gonna have to fight fire with dynamite,” exclaimed Trump.
The Republican National Committee is now laying the groundwork to have the “biggest legal ballot harvesting” in the country.
She also remarked that since there are no paper ballots, and no voter ID everywhere, the committee has to find ways to guard the election.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have one day of voting, we don’t have paper ballots, we don’t have voter ID everywhere. So we have to play the hand that we’re dealt.”
“That way, we have votes banked as we head into Election Day, and we’re not playing catch up on Nov. 5 with the Democrats.”
She also reiterated that the Republican National Committee will do legal ballot harvesting.
“We need to be doing legal ballot harvesting —something that has never been done by the Republican National Committee, but I can promise you will be a huge part of what we’re planning to do.”
She also pressed the need for trained poll watchers and lawyers around the country. “There are people who will be trained and able to physically count how many ballots are coming in and how many ballots are going out.”
“They don’t just stand in the background and kind of keep an eye out and look around for things,“ the Republican National Committee co-chair explained.
