The pro-abortion group All Above All wants President Joe Biden to force Americans to pay for the killing of unborn babies in abortions with their tax dollars.
If Biden complies, as he promised to do on the campaign trail, about 60,000 more unborn babies could be killed in abortions every year in the U.S.
On Monday, the “abortion justice” group began a week-long campaign outlining its demands for the federal budget, Ms Magazine reports. Among other things, it wants Biden to get rid of the Hyde Amendment, a longstanding measure that prohibits taxpayer funding for most abortions in Medicaid.
The pro-abortion group is sponsoring newspaper ads, sending postcards to the White House and parking a mobile billboard in downtown Washington, D.C. to draw attention to its campaign, according to the report.
The pro-abortion group wants Biden to support a federal budget “without abortion coverage bans” and to end “outdated restrictions on medication abortions,” something his administration already is working toward.
“Legal abortion has never been enough,” All Above All states on its website. “It leaves out too many. Those who are denied care because they are struggling financially, or are forced to travel too far, or their clinic was shut down by unjust restrictions.”

But the Hyde Amendment has strong public support. Polls consistently show that most Americans, including low-income Americans whom abortion activists claim to want to help, oppose taxpayer-funded abortions.
Significantly, a 2016 Harvard/Politico poll found that voters who make more than $75,000 were more supportive of forcing taxpayers to fund abortions (45 percent in favor), while those who make $25,000 or less were strongly against it (24 percent in favor). In other words, the people most likely to qualify for a Medicaid-covered, taxpayer-funded abortion do not want it.
Most Democrat lawmakers used to support the Hyde Amendment, too; but many – including Biden — recently abandoned Americans on the issue in favor of the billion-dollar industry, which donates huge amounts of money to their campaigns.
The Hyde Amendment saves lives. Since 1976, it has saved an estimated 2.4 million babies from abortions, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute. The research group estimated that the amendment continues to save about 60,000 babies from abortion each year. Those numbers do not include the many thousands of mothers and fathers who also were saved from the pain and regret of abortion.
Prior to the amendment, in the 1970s, Americans paid for about 300,000 unborn babies’ abortion deaths each year, according to a report from the Family Research Council.
It is not clear if a budget without the Hyde Amendment would pass Congress. Democrats control both houses, but Republicans have promised to fight against any efforts to force taxpayers to fund abortions. And one Democrat, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, also said he supports the Hyde Amendment.
