Arizona has been a huge focus after Kari Lake lost the Governor’s race amid turmoil in the 2022 elections.
Now Lake’s race for the Senate is heating up.
And Kari Lake will be furious after this Department of Justice press conference in Arizona.
The 2024 election cycle has already become chaotic, even with Election Day more than eight months away.
Most polls taken so far indicate that the Presidential race will come down to the wire.
And Democrats are focusing heavily on defeating 2022 gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s bid to become the state’s next U.S. Senator.
And now, the latest guidance from Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice will have many internet users rolling their eyes.
The Department of Justice has made so-called “misinformation” prevention a top priority
Governments across the globe have invested billions into so-called “misinformation” prevention.
America sits among these nations, having pumped massive resources into “misinformation prevention” campaigns and services in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
On Monday, for example, Department of Justice officials held a press conference in Phoenix, Arizona to demonstrate their commitment to stopping the spread of “misinformation.”
More specifically, these Department of Justice officials unveiled details about the arrest of an Ohio man who allegedly made death threats on poll workers in Arizona.
Akil Davis, the FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge, said on Monday, “It cannot be overstated. The work of election officials, their staffs and volunteers is essential to our democracy and any threat to these public servants is completely unacceptable.”
U.S. Attorney for Arizona Gary M. Restaino then spoke, saying, “There is a common denominator in many of these cases, election denialists announcing an attempt to violently punish those who they believe have wronged them.”
While most Americans could agree that making death threats to polls should not be tolerated, the alleged cause behind this crime has many internet users rolling their eyes.
Restaino claimed that “misinformation” caused these crimes to happen in the first place.
He added, “We look to you to report the facts. We look to the community to call out their friends and neighbors who are going down the rabbit hole of misinformation to help people not fall victim to it.”
Restaino’s use of the term “misinformation rabbit holes” reveals how obsessed Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice and the Biden administration have become with preventing the spread of so-called “misinformation.”
The Biden administration’s fixation with “misinformation” has come back to bite them
From early on, the Biden administration placed a heavy emphasis on stopping the spread of what they call “misinformation.”
However, these efforts quickly devolved into what many Americans view as attempts to censor content that steps in the way of their agenda.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for the Murthy v Missouri case, where the federal government faces accusations of working with social media companies to censor Americans.
Biden administration officials lined up to plead their case, demanding that the high court allow them to limit free speech for the sake of stopping the spread of “misinformation.”
Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson seemed to empathize with these pleas.
She even went as far as to claim that she fears the First Amendment could be used to hamstring the rights of the Federal government and its supposed right to silence Americans online in the name of safety.
This fundamental misunderstanding of the First Amendment set off alarm bells for many Americans and legal experts, who fear that the First Amendment could become severely limited if Biden officials get their way.
