Among President Donald Trump’s first marching orders if he bests Joe Biden in their upcoming rematch is to strike down his extreme electric vehicle mandate.
Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, made this statement as Biden announced his plan on Wednesday to conduct a sweeping crackdown on gas cars.
Leavitt quipped, “Joe Biden’s extreme electric vehicle mandate will force Americans to buy ultra-expensive cars they do not want and cannot afford while destroying the U.S. auto industry in the process.”
Trump’s campaign spokesperson further said that this policy would destroy jobs and be anti-consumer and anti-American.
“It will destroy the livelihoods of countless U.S. autoworkers while sending the U.S. auto industry to China.”
Leavitt pledged that Trump would reverse Biden’s mandate on Day 1.
“He will protect the freedom of Americans to drive whichever vehicle they choose, enhance President Trump’s tough tariffs on Chinese-imported cars, and save the U.S. auto industry for generations to come.”
This ruling is Biden’s effort to appease far-left “environmentalists,” who push for the most aggressive move to “eliminate” combustion engine vehicles.
The recent Environmental Protection Agency rule is to impose strict limits on tailpipe pollution, which the agency claimed could be reduced if the vehicles sold in the US were electric by 2027.
If fully implemented, Biden would need at least 70 percent of new car purchases to be electric or hybrid by 2032.
Consumers have long taken the stance that they despise electric vehicles; this was evident as demand for EVs is still down despite incentives.
Despite strong opposition, Biden continues to impose such a policy on the public, who already suffer from insufficient wages and high inflation rates.
According to a 2023 Gallup survey, at least 41 percent of the respondents say they won’t buy an EV, while 43 percent quipped that they would consider it.
Vehicle cost remains their primary concern. Kelly Blue Book’s data reported that the average EV presently costs $55,353, and an average driver spends $56 a month in charging an EV at home.
In addition to this, a driver has to spend during a stop to charge, which is far more costly.
The people do not support Biden’s “woke” environment agenda.
Consumers know fully well that the current regime does not care about the American people, he has an energy agenda and the only way to escape this is to elect Trump in November.
America Petroleum Institute blasted Biden’s electric vehicle mandate and said it would “make new gas-powered vehicles unavailable or prohibitively expensive for most Americans. For them, this wildly unpopular policy is going to feel and function like a ban.”
