A Democratic lawmaker from Texas is accusing the Biden administration of sharing a deceptive picture from a migrant processing facility.
The story: Rep. Henry Cuellar (R-TX) said the Department of Homeland Security released a misleading photo from a migrant facility in Donna, Texas that makes it appear as if there are fewer migrants than previously. However, the migrant children are still there only they have been moved to tents located nearby.

DHS officials confirmed to Border Report that the minors were still in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services but did not reveal their location.
“All they’re doing is, they’re moving kids from one tent to the other tent and saying, ‘Oh, they’re not in the Border Patrol (custody),’” Cuellar said.
“But they’re right next door,” the Democratic lawmaker said of the migrants. “They’re just next door in HHS.”
How we got here: The Biden administration released photos of the migrant facility on Tuesday that showed a few beds and several migrants inside. The DHS said that as of Saturday, there were just 677 children in CBP custody, which represents an 88% drop from March 28 when there were over 5,700 children in custody.
“In March, we faced a critical challenge at our border. The men and women if DHS have been working tirelessly over the past several weeks to respond and rebuild. Their efforts have produced dramatic results – results that ensure the safety and security of both the migrants we encounter and the American people,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed yesterday that migrant children spend less time in processing facilities.
“The amount of time children spend in CBP custody is down 75 percent, from 131 hours at the end of March to under 30 hours now,” Psaki told reporters.
In comparison, the pictures released in March, some of which Cueller provided to Axios which then published them, showed the facility packed with minors.
Cueller claimed at the time that the migrant facility has eight pods meant to house 250 but that each pod instead held more than 400 migrant children. He said the conditions at the facility were “terrible… for children” and that Custom and Border Patrol were “doing the best they can under the circumstances” but “are not equipped to care for the kids.”
Cuellar also called on the administration to help the agency deal with the situation.
