Former President Donald Trump managed to get Liz Cheney worked up over the weekend when he called for her to be jailed along with the rest of the politically motivated Jan. 6 select committee seated by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump shared a Just the News article claiming the Jan. 6 committee “withheld crucial evidence” regarding the far-fetched claim by former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson that Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limo in an effort to redirect it to the U.S. Capitol, where crowds were gathering.
Trump wrote, “She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!”
More from Just the News:
The House Democrat-led Jan. 6 committee withheld crucial evidence from the public, including witness interviews that conflicted with the testimony of star witness Cassidy Hutchinson and her claim then-President Donald Trump tried to commandeer his presidential SUV and take it to the U.S. Capitol that day, House Republicans declared in an explosive new report Monday.
The House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, chaired by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., released its first findings from its year-long probe into Capitol security failures on Jan. 6, 2021, and the initial Democrat effort to investigate the incident.
The report provided evidence contradicting several claims that Democrats made in their final report in December 2022.
For the first time, Loudermilk’s report released information from the Secret Service driver who took Trump to his Jan. 6, 2021 speech on the Ellipse and back to the White House. The driver, who wasn’t identified by name, directly contradicted Hutchinson’s story about Trump trying to grab the wheel of the presidential SUV and take it to the Capitol, the report said.
Some members of the J6 committee justified their actions by hiding behind a supposed deal with the Secret Service to avoid disclosing “privacy information, for-official-use-only information, intelligence and law enforcement sensitive records and raw intelligence information,” according to Mediate
The rejected former GOP congresswoman took to Twitter on Sunday to claim that Trump had been in possession of the information “for many months.”
“Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be,” Cheney tweeted.

Meanwhile, the former president had moved on to a claim that Cheney and her Democrat cohorts had suppressed evidence that Trump authorized 10,000 National Guard troops days before Jan. 6 in the Oval Office.
Kash Patel, who served as chief of staff for the Department of Defense under Trump, wrote a piece published by The Federalist stating as much.
“Indeed, Donald Trump authorized at least 10,000 National Guard troops days before Jan. 6 in the Oval Office with the secretary of defense, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, chief of staff to President Trump, me, and others present,” Patel wrote.
Trump responded in all caps: “SHE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE TO OUR COUNTRY! SHE ILLEGALLY DESTROYED THE EVIDENCE. UNREAL!!!”
Again, Cheney responded to suggest that Trump had this information in his possession for some time, as well.
“Lying in all caps doesn’t make it true, Donald. You know you and your lawyers have long had the evidence,” she tweeted.
