U.S. Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., called out the “disturbing reality” under President Joe Biden for having “deserted” Americans once again, this time in Haiti.
The Florida Republican organized a mission to evacuate 10 Americans from the crime-ravaged country which saw Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry announce his resignation as criminal gangs took over.
“I am proud to report that my team and I were successful in evacuating and rescuing a trapped, and at risk group of Americans from ‘Have Faith Orphanage’ in Haiti last night,” Mills posted on X before dropping a truth bomb about “abandonment” by the Biden administration.

“This recent mission reiterates a disturbing reality that under President Biden’s leadership American lives are continually jeopardized,” he continued.
“I have conducted rescue/ evacs of Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them. There’s a clear pattern of abandonment!” the congressman added, citing the 2021 rescue missions in Afghanistan and the 2023 rescue of Americans from Israel.

“Yet again, this group was left behind by Biden and his State Department after requesting their help in-country,” concluded Mills who served in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division before becoming a congressman.
Thank you.

“The 10 Americans evacuated from Haiti had worked at the Have Faith Orphanage in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. The U.S. military sent forces to Haiti over the weekend at the request of the State Department to bolster security at the U.S. Embassy and airlifted non-essential personnel – such as family of diplomats – who had remained after an order for such individuals to evacuate last summer,” Fox News reported.
State Department spokesperson Matt Miller could not give a solid number in a briefing on Tuesday on how many Americans may still be in Haiti and trying to get out.
One of those rescued was Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom who was in Port-au-Prince visiting the orphanage run by his charity.

U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., began making calls when she found out about Albom and the others, telling a House Armed Services Committee hearing about the rescue operation on Tuesday morning. Eight of the ten Americans evacuated were from Michigan.
McClain reached out to Mills after finding the Biden administration had “no plan” to rescue trapped Americans, according to The Detroit News.
At Tuesday’s hearing, McClain said the administration “doesn’t seem to have a problem with abandoning Americans overseas” as she spoke with officials from the Department of Defense, including the commander of the Southern Command, U.S. Army Gen. Laura J. Richardson.
Biden has continually abandoned Americans overseas in times of crisis.

McClain is “eternally grateful” to Mills for arranging the rescue mission that brought home Americans living in her constituency.
“Those stranded in war-torn Haiti were left hopeless and without options,” she told Fox News Digital in a statement. “The State Department’s answer was to sign up for a notification system and wait for alerts: They offered no real assistance, no opportunities to be rescued, and no plan whatsoever.”
“That’s why Rep. Mills and I had to take the matter into our own hands and save stranded American citizens,” McClain noted. “We worked around the clock to do the work the Biden administration was unwilling to do, and I am eternally grateful for the heroic actions my friend Cory Mills took in traveling to Haiti and physically rescuing Michiganders that were left behind.”
“I am pleased that we were able to save so many, but countless more remain,” she wrote. “I am infuriated that the State Department has so carelessly left so many Americans to die in Haiti.”
