More Americans think nation is ‘more divided’ under Biden than ‘more united’: Poll

Following the Trump administration, Democrats and many in the mainstream media have attempted to portray President Joe Biden as a uniting force for the United States.

According to the results of a recent poll, however, the American people have a different view of the current administration.

“The media manipulates data”

As the ABC News/Ipsos survey found, a greater number of respondents believe the country is “more divided” under Biden’s leadership than those who think it is “more united.”

Of course, ABC News took pains to present its own findings in a way that reflects positively on Biden and his administration, as evidenced in the title of a related story declaring that the country is “optimistic” following his first 100 days in office.

A subheading on the same story asserts: “Nearly two-thirds of Americans say the country is headed in the right direction.”

Upon further study, however, the data shows that 28% of those polled believe America is even more deeply divided while just 23% say Biden has ushered in more national unity. As for ABC’s headline choice, GOP strategist Taylor Budowich was among those who took issue with the “favorable, partisan narrative” it sought to establish.

“Sort of the new 60%”

The poll is not an anomaly, and neither is ABC’s effort to cast the results in the most positive light for the new administration.

Another example came at the end of last month when Biden earned a lackluster 53% approval rating, which NBC News anchor Chuck Todd reportedly attempted to artificially inflate to make the situation appear rosier than it otherwise would.

“Any time you’re over 50 in this polarized environment, that’s really solid,” he said. “It’s sort of the new 60% of the way when you and I grew up in the ’80s and ’90s.”

One factor overlooked by much of the mainstream media is that, aside from Trump and former President Gerald Ford, who assumed office in the wake of the Watergate scandal, Biden’s polling numbers after 100 days in office were the lowest of any modern president.

While his numbers are sure to fluctuate throughout the remainder of his term, it seems clear that allies in the media will gladly report them all in the most favorable light possible.
