The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees conducted a joint hearing last week on alleged influence peddling by President Joe Biden and members of his family.
Among those asked to appear on Wednesday was Hunter Biden. Yet according to Fox News, the president’s son went missing instead.
“Where in the world is Hunter Biden?”
The first son’s absence did not come as a surprise to Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Mike Kelly, who remarked, “It’s [Hunter’s] history, isn’t it?”
Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Giménez offered a similar perspective, telling Fox News, “Maybe we should have a game. Where in the world is Hunter Biden?”

Giménez suggested that the younger Biden “probably didn’t show because he didn’t want to testify, didn’t want to probably lie under oath as to what his activities and his family’s activities are.”
“Why are people giving millions and millions and companies and adversary nations giving millions and millions of dollars to the Biden family when there’s no product to sell or to buy except Joe Biden’s influence?” the Republican lawmaker asked.
Biden previously demanded to testify in public
Meanwhile, California Republican Rep. Tom McClintock pointed to Hunter Biden’s previous demand that he be allowed to answer questions in public rather than answer questions behind closed doors.
McClintock pointed out how the president’s son “actually said he wanted to testify in public and then, given that opportunity, declined to do so.” That led the congressman to ask, “What does that say about him?”
Michigan Republican Rep. John Moolenaar spoke up as well, stating to Fox News that “it would be best if [Hunter] would simply be transparent and open about his business dealings and cooperate in a way that assures the American people.”
Abbe Lowell serves as Hunter Biden’s attorney, and he told  House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer that his client would be absent due to a scheduling conflict.

Lowell stated in a letter to Comer that “even if that hearing was a legitimate exercise of congressional authority, neither Mr. Biden nor I can attend because of a court hearing the very next day in California.”
“Your blatant planned-for-media event is not a proper proceeding but an obvious attempt to throw a Hail Mary pass after the game has ended,” Lowell declared.
He then went on to suggest that the chairman instead “hold a hearing with relatives of former President Trump” on Jared Kushner’s dealings with Saudi Arabia.
