Kamala Harris Has Gone Nearly a Month Without News Conference on Border Crisis

Vice President Kamala Harris has gone nearly a month without holding a press conference on the migrant crisis.

Friday marked the 24th day the Vice President has gone without speaking to reporters after President Biden tapped her last month to lead the nation’s efforts in curbing the massive wave of immigrants arriving on the U.S.-Mexico border, according to Fox News.

Harris and Biden are also yet to visit the border amid reports of overcrowding and Covid-19 outbreaks at migrant detention facilities.

Biden appointed Harris as the country’s top diplomat to address the migration crisis, but later the White House clarified that Harris’s role will focus more on addressing the root cause of the crisis rather than issues at the border.

Harris will lead U.S. negotiations with Mexico and “Northern Triangle” countries – Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador – to help stem “the movement of so many folks … to our southern border.”

Republicans have been repeatedly calling out Harris and Biden over their silence on the issue.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of the border state of Texas said on Fox News’ “The Story” on Friday the administration was “standing by” as the powerful Mexican drug cartels exploit the burgeoning crisis to further their cirminal enterprise.

“The cartels work internationally in Mexico as well as the United States terrorizing the people in South Texas,” Abbott said. “The Biden administration is standing by while people in South Texas are terrorized. It could be murderers, it could be kidnappings, robberies, all kinds of crimes are taking place.”

Meanwhile, it was reported that the abandoned migrant boy that went viral after being encountered wandering alone by a Texas Border Patrol agent had been deported by the Biden administration along with his mother.

Right after they were deported, they were both kidnapped and the abductors asked the boy’s brother, who lives in Miami, for $10,000 to release his kid brother and his mother, but he was only able to come up with half the money and the abductors released his brother, but not his mother.

Soon after being abandoned by his captors, the boy encountered the Texas agent.

Republican Utah congressman Burgess Owens blasted Harris and Biden after witnessing some of the atrocities transpiring at the border.

“To President Biden and Vice President Harris: Get some backbone,” Owens said at a press conference after his visit. “Get some compassion. Come down to the border and see what mess you’ve made.”

“I have 15 grandkids; I have one autistic grandson. To see these young babies sitting on the floor — to see this one young girl, autistic, seven-years-old, and the entire time we’re there, she had tears in her eyes the entire time.”

“I heard a story last night,” Owens recalled. “A young girl, he said, cannot speak anymore because of the trauma she faced while being gang-raped. “These are the stories that we’re not being told. And we have a complicit media, who refuses to talk about this journey, this magnet, of these young girls and boys — many will not make it, many will never talk to their parents again … because we have an administration that does not look at these people as people, but as a strategy.”
