President Joe Biden bumbled through another press conference on Friday, only taking two questions from reporters.
During the press conference, the president botched the name of the Iran deal and claimed that American gun owners support gun control, the Daily Wire reported.
The gun control rant came after Biden was asked a friendly question by Associated Press reporter Aamer Madhani, one of two reporters who were lucky enough to be called on by the president.
Biden on gun owners
Asked whether he ought to re-prioritize his agenda to focus on gun control, Biden replied, “I’ve never not prioritized this. No one has worked harder to deal with the violence used by individuals using weapons than I have.”
Biden cited pushes he has made for gun control previously, as a congressman and vice president, and now as president.
“Immediately upon us becoming an office, having an attorney general, I asked him to put together the things I could do by executive order, including dealing with new guns that can be made, you can buy in pieces and put together, and other, and other initiatives,” Biden said. “I strongly support the universal background checks, which I continue to push … And I strongly support and continue and never stopped supporting the ban on assault weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 bullets.”
Then, Biden claimed, without providing any evidence, that “the folks who own weapons, the folks who own guns, they support universal background checks, majority of them think we should not be selling assault weapons.”
He added: “Who in God’s name needs a weapon that can hold 100 rounds, or 40 rounds, or 20 rounds. It’s just wrong. And I’m not going to give up till it’s done.”
Biden botches Iran deal name
Biden also spoke talked about the Iran deal during the press conference, and the recent talks between Iran, Russia, China, and some Western countries — though not the United States — about finding a way to get Iran and the U.S. back into the Iran deal.
Biden, however, couldn’t seem to remember the deal’s name, and referred to it as “the JOPCA.”
In actuality, the Iran deal is formally known as the JCPOA, or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Biden, however, didn’t seem to notice.
