The infighting between top Democrats is heating up with the upcoming release of a new biography of Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi allegedly attacks Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and her clique in the self-congratulatory new book. Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly attacked as immature and attention seeking in the new book. Pelosi has frequently clashed with the younger and more radical Democrats as part of an internal struggle to define the future of the party.

The book, titled “Madam Speaker: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power” is to be released on April 20 but has been reviewed in advance by certain journalists with early access.
From the unimaginable suffering of those journalists who have read the memoir comes this new evidence of the widening rift between Pelosi and the members of Congress who call themselves “the squad.”
Pelosi apparently had no reservations about making her opinion of Ocasio-Cortez and the others known. The book is said to be intentionally patronizing and infantilizing towards the younger congresswoman.
The alleged address to Ocasio-Cortez includes “You’re not a one-person show. This is the Congress of the United States.”
Also targeted in the book is former President Barack Obama, attacked for being ineffective in winning votes in Congress and for supposedly taking credit from Pelosi for what she feels are her achievements.
While Pelosi did not write the book herself, she appears to have been so heavily involved that it is nearly an autobiography. Certainly the opinions of Pelosi herself will be accurately expressed.
Democrat infighting has been swelling for years now, with competing factions quietly warring for control over the direction and platform of the party.
Without a President Trump to unite against these conflicts are likely to reach a new intensity in the coming months. Pelosi leads a faction of older “business as usual” Democrats, the establishment wing of the party.
Ocasio-Cortez has increasingly come to be seen as a leader of an opposing faction of younger and more openly radical Democrats who are frustrated with the progress of their agenda in Congress.
Pelosi only narrowly clung to her position as Speaker of the House earlier this year, a sign that her control over Democrats in Congress is finally beginning to wane.
Republicans will undoubtedly be happy to see Democrats eating each other once again, particularly these Democrats, both of whom are longtime targets of Republican ire.
As the conflict within the party heats up it remains to be seen which side will triumph and win control of the Democrats. For now, however, Nancy Pelosi appears to be fully on the defensive against the younger upstarts.
