Israel offered to release around 800 Palestinian prisoners, including 100 convicted murderers in exchange for 40 of the Israeli hostages who were taken by Hamas into Gaza during the October 7 massacre in which 1,200 Israeli citizens were murdered.
The New York Post reports that this agreement was set forth on Sunday, a day after US negotiators made a “bridging proposal that was set to establish the ratio of prisoners-to-hostages freed as part of a temporary truce agreement with Hamas.”
It is unclear if the proposal being discussed was one suggested by American negotiators, but Hamas is expected to take a few days to make a decision on the agreement.
