New biography claims Nancy Pelosi mocked AOC and her ‘Squad,’ fumed that Obama took all the credit

A new biography of Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claims that the House speaker mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her progressive “Squad” members of Congress. The book also said that Pelosi privately fumed that former President Barack Obama took all the credit for himself.

Pelosi, 81, is said to have mimicked a childlike voice when she ridiculed the socialist democrat and three other female members of Congress who are ideologically aligned with AOC’s agenda.

“You’re not a one-person show. This is the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi reportedly told them.

The account comes from the book titled, “Madam Speaker: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power.” Axios obtained excepts from the book and described the contents.

In the book, Pelosi is sad to have bristled at Obama for taking all the credit for reforms passed during his two terms. She was also reportedly angry that Obama was unable to obtain the support of his home state of Illinois to pass Obamacare.

If the account is accurate, it wouldn’t be the first time that Pelosi lashed out at the leaders of the far left progressive wing of the Democratic Party. In April 2019, Pelosi laughed off the influence of AOC and her fellow progressive colleagues by mocking their reliance on social media.

“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers,” Pelosi said at the time, “what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House.”

In July 2019, Fox News reported that a senior Democratic source privately bashed Ocasio-Cortez.

“Her peers do not take her seriously,” the source said to Fox. “They think it is absurd to call the speaker racist. Offensive and absurd.”
