When Democrats don’t get their way, they try to change the rules of the game to benefit them.
We saw this with the pre-election lawsuits that brought about the chaos in the election. The Democrats called for the abolition of the Electoral College when Hillary Clinton lost in 2016. Some, including AOC and the Washington Post editorial board, even wanted to end the Senate because it gives small states the same representation as the large states…which was the entire point of the Senate in the first place, but this information goes right over their heads.
Now President Biden has announced that he will be forming a commission to research the possibility of packing the Supreme Court—fancy talk for adding a bunch of new justices to the Court—which would allow Biden to appoint more Liberal justices and tip the scales in the Left’s favor.
Former President Trump stocked the court system with conservative justices, so now Biden and the Democrats want to undo Trump’s appointments. Once again, they are rigging the game.
The New York Times reported, “President Biden on Friday will order a 180-day study of adding seats to the Supreme Court, making good on a campaign-year promise to establish a bipartisan commission to examine the potentially explosive subjects of expanding the court or setting term limits for justices, White House officials said.
The president acted under pressure from activists pushing for more seats to alter the ideological balance of the court after President Donald J. Trump appointed three justices.”
During the campaign, Biden refused to answer the question of whether he would support packing the Supreme Court.
He told reporters that “the only court-packing is going on right now. It’s going on with the Republicans packing the court now. It’s not constitutional what they’re doing. The fact is that the only packing going on is this court is being packed now by the Republicans after the vote has already begun. I’m going to stay focused on it so we don’t take our eyes off the ball here.”
When asked by a reporter whether he supported packing the court, Biden responded by saying that “You’ll know my position on court-packing when the election is over.”
He then was asked a legitimate follow-up question over whether voters deserve to know whether he favored such a policy. He answered: “No, voters don’t deserve to know.”
The Senate was created with two Senators each to ensure that small states had as much representation as the large states. Congress exists for population-based representation. Without the Great Compromise, the Constitution would have never been ratified and we wouldn’t have a country (The state legislatures originally chose their Senators until the 17th Amendment instituted direct election by voters—a mistake in my view.)
The Founding Fathers of our country instituted the Electoral College because they feared the mob’s tendency to think irrationally and potentially vote a tyrant into office. Their insight into the dangers of mobocracy was proven two years after the Constitutional Convention when the bloody French Revolution was carried out by a nation of angry citizens.
America isn’t a Democracy; it’s a representative republic. This is something that our students are not taught properly in our schools today.
John Witherspoon, a pastor and president of Princeton, wrote, “Pure democracy cannot subsist long nor be carried far into the departments of state—it is very subject to caprice and the madness of popular rage.”
Noah Webster once remarked that “democracy is often the most tyrannical government on Earth.”
Joe Biden was the type of leader that the Founders were afraid of. Now the current president is testing the limits of the system they established, hungry for any opportunity to expand the Left’s power.
The Constitution has survived power-hungry leaders before. Let’s pray it survives again.
Opportunity… They say that luck is when hard work meets opportunity – and often this is exactly the case. However, as valuable as opportunity may be, there is something that I’ve always felt is even MORE important: innovation. Innovation is TRULY the key to success—which is why we should always be on the lookout for new and innovative ideas. But what if I told you that one of these ideas has been discovered? What would you do? Would you shrug your shoulders and let the opportunity pass you by? Or would you take advantage of it? If you’re one of the bold ones ready to make a statement—follow this link and see for yourself the opportunity right in front of you.
