The Bottom Line: Mercedes Benz builds and sells several different model SUV’s in their product line up. For the buyers who want the power, style and options of an SUV, but not the tall ride height, square looks, or the bulk of a larger vehicle, they sell a station wagon edition of the E class sedan, that they call the E 450 4Matic Wagon.
Mercedes states that it’s an E Class for the road less traveled. For 2021 Mercedes is making its E class wagon a little less wagon-y, and renaming it the E 450 4Matic All-Terrain Wagon, to attract buyers who would otherwise choose an SUV.
The E 450 4Matic All-Terrain Wagon has as standard equipment an Air Body Control air suspension system for more comfort, luxury and safety, with an added dose of versatility. All E 450’s have an inline 3.0L liter 6 cylinder turbo engine with 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque and EQ Boost, with ECO start and stop, mated to a 9G-TRONIC 9 speed automatic transmission, routed to Mercedes Benz’s superb 4Matic all wheel drive system, that is designed to increase and maintain traction control in all slippery conditions.
