WASHINGTON, DC- If you can’t beat ‘em, pay ‘em off.
That is apparently the “strategy” being considered by the Biden administration, as the New York Post reports they are considering sending cash payments to Central Americans in order to dissuade them from making the journey to the United States.
Seriously. They are literally considering bribing people not to come to the United States. This is what passes for “leadership” in Biden’s America.
The Post, citing a report in Reuters said the administration is trying to stem the tide of migrants leaving Central American countries, making the trek across Mexico, and then streaming into the United States pretty much unabated.
The problem is of course self-inflicted, as Biden made it clear both during the campaign and after the election that it would be open borders, good time rock and roll once he was in the White House. It comes as a shock to nobody that the border has turned into one giant cluster you know what.
Reuters said the administration’s southern border coordinator, Roberta Jacobson, said a potential cash transfer program was being targeted to residents of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, which are overwhelmingly responsible for the number of migrants coming to the U.S.
“We’re looking at all the productive options to address both the economic reasons people may be migrating, as well as the protection and security reasons,” Jacobson said in an interview.
Last month, U.S. Border Patrol agents picked up nearly 170,000 migrants at the southern border, a 70 percent increase from the month before and the highest monthly total in 20 years, according to data. And that’s the number who were picked up—it doesn’t include those who eluded capture.
Numbers have been steadily rising since the beginning of the year, and there are a number of factors that play into it, among them the pandemic and natural disasters in those regions.
However the primary reason has to be attributed to Biden’s pronouncements that he was putting a 100-day freeze on deportations and signaled what amounts to basically and open borders policy. The surge at the border should come as a surprise to nobody.
Biden has been slammed by border area law enforcement officials, as well as political leaders in the region, claiming that he has been doing nothing to help stem the tide, nor did he prepare for the surge prior to making his ill-advised comments about the border.
The crisis has led to thousands of unaccompanied migrant children being in federal custody at an estimated cost of $60 million a week.
Reuters, citing an unnamed senior White House official said the administration is hoping cash payments may help stem the tide of those seeking to come to the U.S. by helping to mitigate financial issues these people face so they don’t feel the need to come to America.
No explanation was given as to how the administration would administer the program, or guarantee that recipients of cash payments wouldn’t come to the U.S. anyway.
Jacobson, who is stepping down from her position, couldn’t explain to the outlet how the program would work, but “promised” the government “isn’t going to be handing out money or checks to people.”
Clearly, if the White House plans on sending money to these countries with the hopes it will be disseminated to residents of those countries, that is a fool’s errand. That will never happen, and the administration would be naïve to believe it would.
Aside from sending taxpayer’s cash to those Central American countries, the Biden administration is also looking over a plan to send COVID-19 vaccines to some of those countries, where the disbursement of the vaccines has been extremely slow.
For example, in Honduras and Guatemala, less than one-percent of the population has been vaccinated, while in El Salvador, only 2.5 percent have been inoculated.
Jacobson noted the White House hasn’t yet decided whether or not to prioritize sending vaccines to what are called the “Northern Triangle” countries however the administration will look at whether the vaccines might help those country’s economies, which have been struggling especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here is more on our reporting on the border crisis.
DEL RIO, TX- The conditions at the border have gotten bad and appear to be getting worse, putting a strain on law enforcement resources in border states such as Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
According to law enforcement sources, the acting head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is touring the southern border in the Del Rio (TX) Sector, however there is apparently a media blackout on the tour.
According to Breitbart News, government officials denied Breitbart Texas an interview with acting senior CBP official Troy Miller about his observations during the border tour, and what is being done to address the crisis at the border.
According to Breitbart, CPB issued a “sharp” response, saying, “Sorry but this is strictly a no-media visit,” when asked by Breitbart Texas about the acting commissioner’s availability for a media visit and to answer questions.
This is, Breitbart notes a continuing pattern of a virtual media blackout to control the messaging on what is becoming an untenable crisis at our southern border.
CBP released a statement in which they addressed recent apprehensions along the border. Miller stated, “Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the border is not open, and the vast majority of people are being returned under Title 42. Do not believe smugglers or others claiming otherwise.”
However according to Breitbart, the scene on the ground seems to paint a different picture as to the status of the border, that is whether it is truly closed or not.
In addition, Breitbart reported that officials with knowledge of the apparent media blackout, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “The situation with media relations now is night an day compared to the last administration.”
“We have been advised not to speak on immigration issues at the border and to rely on DHS’s Office of Public Affairs and the White House Press Office to handle messaging.”
They noted the verbal order only applies to senior law enforcement leaders within the Department of Homeland Security, and carries with it no expiration date.
Moreover, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said in a recent interview on the Fox News Channel, “I can tell you this, those numbers of people that are being released, they’re purposely withholding that information.”
“I now know that they’re bringing people from McAllen over to Laredo, processing them in Laredo, and they’re going to release them in my community,” Cuellar said.
“I’ve seen this before, don’t let the local communities know what you’re doing, where they’re starting to bring people in from the valley, process them in Laredo, release them at a bus station. And again, I’ve seen this before in the past.”
Miller’s visit to Del Rio is one of several planned during the upcoming week, according to sources, Breitbart reports. Sources said that Miller toured the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo Sector prior to his arrival in Eagle Pass, Texas on Friday.
Since January 20, Border Patrol facilities have been virtually overrun with illegals entering the country, a sharp reversal of the situation in the prior four years. Biden reversed nearly all of the Trump administration policies which had been largely successful in stemming the flow of illegals into the country.
Also, Biden has promised an amnesty plan for those getting into the country no matter how they do so, and that is once again encouraging additional migrants to cross the border into the US.
Last month, CBP apprehended nearly 100,000 migrants, a number they said which had not been seen since 2006, when George W. Bush was president. The bulk of the apprehensions occurred in Texas-based sectors.
Border Patrol officials emphasized that those apprehensions don’t include what they refer to as “got-aways.” Those are the estimated number of illegals who cross the border but who are not captured, Breitbart Texas reported. During the first five months of this fiscal year, CBP officials estimate around 118000 got-aways—nearly double that for the entire FY2020.
Typically, VIP visits are not announced other than a few local Border Patrol leaders who are informed on a “need to know” basis,” sources told Breitbart. On many occasions however, field agents are invited to hear leadership who may offer words of encouragement—but that is no longer happening.
In addition, in stark contrast to transparent policies under the Trump administration, the current one does not invite news media to witness what is going on at the border. It’s staggering reversal of transparency.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration is employing what can only be described, Breitbart notes as a “nothing to see here” approach to media relations, as well as the apparent secrecy surrounding the current immigration crisis at the southern border.
