The mainstream media will never learn, they just can’t beat former President Donald Trump.
Donald Trump released a statement this week debunking a report about Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL). The liberal news agency claimed that before Trump left office the congressman begged him for a preemptive pardon.
“Congressman Matt Gaetz has never asked me for a pardon,” Trump wrote in a press release. “It must also be remembered that he has totally denied the accusations against him.”

Gaetz is facing allegations from a previous NYT’s report that alleges he brought a 17 year old girl across state lines for the purpose of bringing her to a state where it was legal to have sexual relations. However, Gatez has denied any wrongdoing and says he and his family are victims of an extortion scheme from a former federal prosecutor that is trying to scam his family out of $25 million.
The New York Times story is a bunch of baseless accusations, they failed to say that Gaetz directly asked Trump himself for pardon and said it was “unclear” if Gaetz ever spoke to Trump about being pardoned.
The Florida congressman also told Politico that he stands by his statements and never asked Trump for a pardon.
“The recent false allegations against me are not something I’ve ever discussed with Trump, pardons or otherwise,” he said.
Many believe that Gaetz is being targeted because of his close relationship with former President Trump. Rumors have begun to circulate that unless Gaetz is charged soon the New York Times report is bogus and was used as a weapon to try and force the Congressman to resign.
However, the New York Times did not attack Democrat Rep. Eric Salwell after it was discovered he had a close relationship with a Chinese operative.
