Texas Senator Ted Cruz has not exactly been getting the most favorable media attention lately following his short trip to sunny Cancun during a freak storm in Texas.
The media lost their minds upon seeing pictures of Cruz visiting the sunny destination while Texans were freezing.
It might have not have been his finest moment, but the media’s reaction was way over the top.
But not one to lie down, Lion Ted Cruz has turned the tables on media and triggered them by owning his mistake, thus taking the media’s ammunition away.
Upon taking the stage at CPAC 2021, Cruz began by saying that “Orlando is nice. Not as nice as Cancun, but it’s nice.”
Is it just me, or has Ted Cruz become much cooler since he began growing out his beard?
If he would have shown this side of his personality in 2016, he might have given Donald Trump more of a challenge for the nomination.
Maybe 2024 will be his year. If Trump doesn’t run, the race is wide open, and the Republican bench would be a strong one.
Senator Cruz took on the “socialists in charge of the levers of power” and implored the crowd to fight the Left’s attack on liberty.
He said that the media looks at the CPAC crowd as dangerous. Then he went full Star Wars nerd when he said that “this is the rebel alliance. And they are the emperor. And make no mistake, they aren’t you father.”
Cruz said that there isn’t a Civil War in the Republican party like the media says, but rather that the GOP has a giant tent and that Republicans may disagree on certain issues, but they can never disagree on the importance of preserving liberty.
“Love of liberty can unite the party.”
Then he turned to highlighting the absurd attack on liberty by the Left during the pandemic. He cited the Rahm Emanuel maxim: “Don’t let a good crisis go to waste.”
Some of the examples he used were the 37 tons of sand that were used to bury a skate park in California so it could not be used again.
Then there is the execrable New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, who has ordered parks closed and Jewish services canceled.
In California, despite the lockdown, you can protest to defund the police. No one will get infected. “Amazing how that happens,” Cruz joked.
“But if you go to church, you say Amazing Grace, everyone is going to die.”
Senator Cruz made fun of what he called “stupid” restaurant COVID rules.
“You can take your mask off at the table but must wear it when you stand.”
Now the Left is pushing people to wear “two, three, even four masks. How much virtue do you need to signal? This is dumb.”
Yes, it is dumb…so dumb.
Cruz then said that the political pendulum will come around and that 2022 and 2024 will be big years for the GOP.
He made a good point. The Left tells people they can’t say or do anything that they don’t approve of.
They are a giant party of buzzkills. It strains credulity to believe the nation could possibly vote for Democrats again in 2022 and 2024.
The biggest takeaway from the speech from me was that Ted Cruz was having fun and he wanted conservatives to enjoy life because the Left are so dour and don’t seem to appreciate the gift of life.
That is a good message for us all to follow.
We here at FreedomWire try to do this every day. Yes, we are commentating on serious issues that matter, but we also like to have fun and provide some entertainment and levity.
