RALEIGH – The John Locke Foundation holds regular luncheon events — dubbed the Shaftesbury Society — with expert guest speakers on subjects ranging from tax policy, education, to voter integrity and North Carolina history.
Recently, they assembled an expert panel to discuss the unique protections of economic liberty within the N.C. Constitution, and why it’s so vital that judges understand the court’s constitutional role in defending economic liberty against encroachment by the government.
The topic was expounded upon by N.C. Court of Appeals Judge Richard Dietz in an article for Carolina Journal, who leads the panel’s dive into these critical clauses. It’s a great, very informative, and insightful conversation, you’ll want to watch:
