Flip-Flop Fauci Claims Trump’s “Denial and Lack of Facts” Contributed To High COVID Death Toll

Dr. Anthony Fauci criticized President Trump on CNN claiming his “denial and lack of facts” contributed to the COVID death toll of nearly 500,000.

When asked Sunday by CNN’s “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota whether he believed President Trump’s political rhetoric contributed to the COVID death toll.

“I certainly think that that’s part of it,” Fauci said. “When you have such a common force, such a powerful force against you…you’ve got to do it together in a unifying way and not have any kind of political ideology divisiveness getting in the way of what we’re trying to do.”

“That’s not the only thing that really was a problem, but that’s certainly in my mind, having lived through it, was something that I found really to be unfortunately damaging.”

Camerota then asked if Trump’s “denial and lack of facts contributed to this level of loss”.

“I’m uncomfortable going back and directly criticizing, but it’s really almost self evident that when you’re trying to signal the country to really buckle down and address the kinds of mitigation strategies that we put forth — the wearing of masks, the physical distancing, the avoiding congregate settings, the kinds of things that I and many of the other public health people, who were there, trying to get the country to appreciate the this that we were trying to do all throughout the entire outbreak,” Fauci replied.

“I mean, the thing that I remember very clearly is when we were trying to open up the country, open up the economy and to do it carefully with the gateway, the phase 1, phase 2, the phase 3. I was hoping that would see a uniform, unified approach towards all doing that together. And when signals come saying ‘this isn’t so bad, we’re in pretty good shape,’ when we’re saying we’re not, we being the health people, that was not helpful, because the people who wanted to deny that this is something that was serious when you get a signal from above that it might not be [so bad], then you don’t do the kinds of things you need to do.”

Fauci has become well-known for routinely flip-flopping on his public health positions.

For example, in July of last year, Fauci admitted under oath during a Congressional hearing that the Trump administration actually saved lives in their responses to the COVID pandemic.

But this isn’t the only trademark Fauci Flip Flop.

In November, Fauci claimed that COVID cases wouldn’t subside anytime soon, compared to his comments this week noting that COVID cases are steadily declining.

In March of last year, Fauci argued that masks don’t do much to mitigate coronavirus spread. Since then Fauci has recommended double-masking.

Last summer, Fauci insisted that reopening schools was too dangerous for the children because of COVID.

But in November Fauci said, “But as I said in the past … the default position should be to try as best as possible within reason to keep the children in school or to get them back to school.”

But Fauci isn’t just a flip-flopper, he’s a partisan hack as well.

As recently as September 2020, Fauci praised New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) COVID response measures, despite the state having the highest COVID death rate in the country.

But when evidence of a massive nursing home death toll cover-up within his office hit the mainstream press this month, Fauci refused to comment.

“I’m not really sure of all the details of that, and I think if I make a statement, it probably could either be incorrect or taken out of context. So, I prefer not to comment on that,” he told CNN last week.
