Trump Gave One Jaw-Dropping Answer When He Was Asked to Replace Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh’s passing created a massive void in the conservative movement.

Many conservatives believe there is only one man who can fill Limbaugh’s shoes.

And Donald Trump gave one jaw-dropping answer when he was asked to replace Rush Limbaugh.

Rush’s wife Kathryn announced the bad news that Limbaugh passed away at the top of the broadcast.

“It is with profound sadness I must share with you directly that our beloved Rush — my wonderful husband — passed away this morning due to complications from lung cancer. As so many of you know, losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” Kathryn Limbaugh announced.

Donald Trump gave his first interview since leaving office on the day Rush Limbaugh passed away.

Trump granted an interview to Newsmax’s Greg Kelly.

At one point in the interview Kelly asked Trump if anyone had asked him to take over for Limbaugh.

Trump responded that some individuals had requested that he assume the role of host for Limbaugh’s radio program.

But even Donald Trump said he could not fill those shoes by calling Rush “irreplaceable.”

“He would be a hard one to replace … he’s irreplaceable,” Trump told Kelly.

Trump explained that the hardest job in life was succeeding a legend because the new guy was immediately set up for failure because no matter what, you can never live up to the predecessor in the eyes of the fan base.

“You wouldn’t want to follow Rush … some things just can’t be done. He was unique,” Trump added.

When Rush Limbaugh debuted his national radio show in 1988 there was nothing comparable.

AM radio as a format was dying.

There was no such thing as the conservative media as Americans only had a choice of ABC, NBC, CBS, The New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN to get their news and each of those outlets followed the dominate frame of the Democrat Party’s spin on the day’s events.

Rush Limbaugh shattered that liberal dominance of the news media.

Limbaugh raved there was a massive market for news outlets that challenged the Democrat Party’s narrative on American politics.

In many ways Rush Limbaugh did it first and Rush Limbaugh did it best.

Limbaugh emerged in the final months of the Reagan presidency and Limbaugh held the title as spokesman for the conservative movement.

Donald Trump understands that anyone that sought to take over for Rush is assuming a mantle that Rush created.

And even though many consider Trump the man that displaced Limbaugh as the leader of the conservative movement, the highest compliment Trump could pay Limbaugh is the fact that Trump—who is a master showman—doesn’t think he could sit behind the golden EIB microphone as a worthy successor.
