Honoring A Legend: Florida’s DeSantis Announces Amazing State-Wide Tribute To Rush Limbaugh

(TeaParty.org Exclusive) – This past week America lost a great legend, Rush Limbaugh, who died on Wednesday after a year-long battle with cancer; he was 70 years old. It was confirmed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would honor the late conservative radio host — and Floridian — by issuing an order that all state and US flags fly at half staff.

The order will go into effect upon the announced confirmation of arrangements for Limbaugh’s funeral. The flags will fly at half staff on the day of the radio legend’s burial, according to DeSantis spokeswoman Meredith Beatrice.

Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, an American radio personality, conservative political commentator, author, and television show host, was best known as the host of The Rush Limbaugh Show, nationally syndicated on AM and FM radio stations.

Rush Limbaugh, a native of Missouri, moved to West Palm Beach, Florida during the late 1980s. During his career, Limbaugh earned a high following as he became the most-listened to and beloved of radio show hosts in the history of the United States, and quite possible the world.

Limbaugh had a career that spanned 30 years on air. He was known for ripping into liberals and scorned political correctness, making him one of the most powerful voices in politics.

DeSantis had the opportunity to speak of the legacy of Limbaugh when he appeared on Fox News this past Thursday. He credited his success to Rush and labeled his appearances on Limbaugh’s show as being pivotal moments during his campaign in 2018 as he was seeking his governorship position in Florida.

“He had me on when I was running for Governor,” DeSantis said. “I was getting the tar kicked out of me every day and he and me on the week before the election in 2018. He didn’t have a lot of guests. I was honored to be on his show a couple of times.”

DeSantis went on to say, “He would have been great in radio even without the conservative thing. He’s just that talented. Obviously he was a conservative icon up there with Scalia, Reagan, and Buckley.”

As one of Limbaugh’s last honors, he was surprised during President Trump’s State of the Union address when he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, an award that came just one day after he announced his cancer diagnosis.

President Trump and Governor DeSantis can be applauded for publicly recognizing the true brilliance and contributions of a man that will truly be missed, yet whose legacy will certainly live on.
