CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was roundly mocked on social media after he responded to a Texas mayor’s decision to resign from his position.
The now-ex mayor of Colorado City, Tim Boyd, announced his resignation this week after he faced backlash for calling residents “lazy” and “weak.” Boyd went on a tirade in a Facebook post when he slammed residents of the city who complained about the power outages that came as a result of the unexpectedly freezing temperatures in the state.
“No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local governments responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!” Boyd wrote. f you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising!”
Cuomo responded to the news in a tweet on Thursday. He suggested that the mayor had two options on the table, leave his position as mayor or apologize to the residents and ” learn and become a better leader.” The CNN anchor appeared to indicate that the second option was better.

Critics were quick to point to his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), and the controversy surrounding his administration’s handling of nursing home deaths. The governor has come under scrutiny over his nursing home policy and the way the state reported nursing home deaths, but recent revelations implied that his administration might have intentionally hidden the true death toll.
Critics suggested that his tweet applies to his brother as well.
Whomst else might be called to resign right now I wonder https://t.co/L6yQUcww8W

Not anytime soon: CNN’s Cuomo, who famously interviewed his brother at the beginning of the pandemic last year, has not addressed the latest developments on his show. CNN eventually addressed the noticeable lack of coverage of the nursing home controversy on Cuomo’s show, saying the network had reinstated a prohibition host from doing stories about his brother.
The network claimed that it lifted the rule last year because of “extraordinary times” amid the pandemic.
Hey …. visit CNN sometime and ask yourself, “Would this be any different if it were produced by the Democratic party?” #DontTrustTheMedia
