Fresno, CA – A CHP Officer has been shot following a pursuit in Tulare County today. The suspect was also shot during the gunfight.
Authorities say at around 10:30AM. Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies were informed of a man with a gun who was driving in the Three Rivers area.
Tulare Deputies located the suspect and a pursuit began. CHP Officers joined the chase and the suspect starting shooting at officers through his vehicle’s window.
The suspect crashed his vehicle in an orchard in the area of Road 196 and Avenue 364 in the Woodlake area, and fled on foot. A gunfight between officers and the suspect occurred, leaving both a CHP officer and the suspect shot.
The unidentified Highway Patrol officer was shot in the shoulder and airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Authorities say she is expected to survive.
The suspect was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
