You Won’t Believe Who Will Replace This GOP Senator That Backed Impeachment

All hell broke loose in the Republican Party following the Senate wrapping up Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial.

Seven Republican senators voted to convict Donald Trump.

And you won’t believe who will replace this GOP senator that backed impeachment.

The Senate acquitted Donald Trump despite seven Republicans casting votes to convict the former President.

Grassroots Republicans were outraged that their elected representatives gave in to the left’s narrative on impeachment and voted for conviction.

North Carolina’s retiring Senator Richard Burr was one of the Republicans that joined the Democrats in voting to convict Trump.

The North Carolina Republican Party quickly censured Burr who tried to explain his vote claiming that once the Senate voted to hold the trial he felt compelled to support conviction.

“When this process started, I believed that it was unconstitutional to impeach a president who was no longer in office. I still believe that to be the case. However, the Senate is an institution based on precedent, and given that the majority in the Senate voted to proceed with this trial, the question of constitutionality is now established precedent. As an impartial juror, my role is now to determine whether House managers have sufficiently made the case for the article of impeachment against President Trump,” Burr wrote.

Burr claimed the evidence showed President Trump incited the January 6 riot.

“The President promoted unfounded conspiracy theories to cast doubt on the integrity of a free and fair election because he did not like the results. As Congress met to certify the election results, the President directed his supporters to go to the Capitol to disrupt the lawful proceedings required by the Constitution. When the crowd became violent, the President used his office to first inflame the situation instead of immediately calling for an end to the assault,” Burr added.

Burr’s vote roiled the race to replace him.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham stated that Burr angering Republicans with his vote vaulted Lara Trump to frontrunner states if she chooses to enter the race.

Graham declared he would endorse Lara Trump should she run for Senate, and called the President’s daughter-in-law the “future of the Republican Party.”

“The biggest winner of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump,” Graham declared on Fox News. “My dear friend Richard Burr, who I like and have been friends to a long time, just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs, and I certainly will be behind her because she represents the future of the Republican Party.”

Lara Trump is a North Carolina native and attended North Carolina State University.

She currently lives in New York City with her husband Eric Trump so she would have to move back to the Tar Heel State to mount a campaign.

Lara Trump herself has floated the idea she would enter the race, and now that Burr supported conviction, a candidate with the name Trump is the obvious landing spot for the vast swath of North Carolina Republicans outraged over how their Senator conducted himself during the impeachment trial.
