Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted Instagram and Facebook after they flagged his interview with a Chinese virologist on the platforms.
The interview: This week, Carlson spoke with Dr. Li-Meng Yan who claimed the coronavirus was created in a lab and that the Chinese government intentionally released it to the public.
“I can tell you, this is created in the lab … and also, it is spread to the world to make such damage,” Yan said. “It is a man-made virus created in the lab.”
Yan left Hong Kong in April when she initially accused China of covering up the coronavirus outbreak there.
Yan, who worked at the Hong Kong School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong, said she was one of the first people to research the virus when it first emerged in December 2019. She recently released a paper which, according to her, shows that the virus could have been created in a lab.
Facebook and Instagram hid the interview behind a false information label, linking to a fact check from FactCheck.org about a report that found the coronavirus was not man-made.
Carlson’s response: The Fox News host accused the platforms of censorship.
“Facebook has censored our video with a Chinese whistleblower. Big tech wants control over the facts you see,” Carlson wrote on Instagram and re-shared a video of the interview.
“What exactly, you may be wondering, constitutes misinformation? What’s the definition of that?” Carlson said. “Well in practice, misinformation, according to Facebook, is anything that suggests our health authorities and Democratic politicians are incompetent. Also, anything that embarrasses Big Tech allies in the communist government of China.”
Worth noting: Twitter suspended Yan’s account on the platform, though it is unclear why.
Hey …. visit CNN sometime and ask yourself, “Would this be any different if it were produced by the Democratic party?” #DontTrustTheMedia
