“Skinny” Coronavirus Bill Fails in Senate

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate failed to invoke cloture on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s “skinny” coronavirus relief bill. The bill would have spent almost a half-trillion dollars on programs related to the pandemic, including “contact tracing and testing.”

Contact tracing and testing is code for government tracking your movements so they’ll know when you come into contact with anyone suspected of being exposed to the virus. If you are found to have been in contact with someone who may have the virus, you will be subject to quarantine and possibly other measures.

Every democrat opposed the bill because it “only” spent a half-trillion dollars, and they want to spend between $2 and 3 trillion.

Sadly, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was the only Republican to oppose the bill because it spent too much and Congress has already driven the deficit to record levels via multiple coronavirus spending bills.

The reason the bill was under a trillion dollars is because some senators refused to vote for another trillion-dollar spending bill.  These senators have heard from you and others opposed to the continued use of coronavirus hysteria to justify more spending (and a skyrocketing national debt) and infringements on our liberties.

This battle is likely not over yet, but your efforts are making a difference in stopping the coronavirus spending spree.
