MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell is threatening “legal redress” against CNN over an “outrageously unprofessional” interview last month with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper where the two discussed whether the drug Oleandrin could be used as an anti-COVID-19 therapeutic.
The letter: Lin Wood, Lindell’s lawyer, wrote in a letter that Cooper engaged in what Wood described as “the most outrageously unprofessional ‘hit piece’ interview I have ever viewed.”
“While I am fully aware that Cooper’s sarcastic, mocking, derisive, and demeaning tone, attitude and facial expressions toward Mr. Lindell are not legally actionable, I have complete confidence that Cooper’s false and defamatory accusations are actionable,” wrote Wood in the letter, which was exclusively obtained by Newsweek.
The letter, addressed to CNN executive vice president and general counsel David Vigilante, claims that Cooper “cast aspersions on Mr. Lindell’s character and reputation” and called him a “snake oil salesman.”
Wood claims in the letter that Cooper lied when he said that Phase I and Phase II clinical studies have not been conducted; that Oleandrin “has never been tested,” and that tests do not exist “anywhere outside a lab in a test tube,” the letter stated, according to Newsweek.
The letter claims Cooper falsely accused Lindell of “willing to promote anything … even if it doesn’t work,” and it demands that CNN “preserve any and all evidence, documents, communications, electronically stored information or other tangible things that are related in any way to the August 18 interview.”
Wood is known for suing multiple major news organizations on behalf of Kentucky teen Nick Sandmann, who was a subject of a defamation campaign by the media over a peaceful January 2019 confrontation with a Native American leader outside the Lincoln Memorial.
Wood helped Sandmann settle a $275 million defamation lawsuit against CNN for an undisclosed sum.
He is also working with 17-year old Kyle Rittenhouse, who is accused of shooting three people, killing two, in Kenosha, WI.
