Bombshell claims of a star NFL player committing sexual assault in 2017 rocked the sports world this week.Â
According to Fox News, the Dallas Police Department confirmed to the outlet that they are investigating claims that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott “sexually assaulted a woman outside a strip club in 2017.”
However, Prescott has taken legal action against the woman who made the claims, filing a lawsuit against her, “alleging she demanded money in exchange for her remaining quiet about the allegation.”
The woman claims she was assaulted by Prescott in the back of an SUV in 2017.
What’s going on?
Fox News described the bizarre situation, which Prescott says involved a $100 million blackmail attempt.
Fox noted:
Prescott said in his lawsuit that lawyers for the female accuser sent a letter to him in January demanding $100 million in exchange for her remaining quiet about the accusations, FOX 4 reported, citing court documents. The woman claimed Prescott sexually assaulted her in 2017 after his first season in Dallas.
In addition to denying the claims of sexual assault, Prescott filed a $1 million countersuit against the woman, according to court filings.

Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, issued a statement denying the claims.
“Mr. Prescott, a new father to a baby girl, has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault,” McCathern said in a statement to ESPN. “He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Social media reacts
Many social media users, even some of Prescott’s non-fans, expressed the belief that they do not believe he’s guilty of such accusations.
“Can’t stand the Cowboys, but I haven’t ever seen anything in Dak’s actions on or off the field that would make me believe this for one second. Sorry, but no,” one X user wrote.
Some other social media users had a different take on the matter, suggesting that Prescott might be guilty of the accusation and is attempting to get in front of it for PR purposes.
An X user wrote, “I suspect he is guilty cause if it had been a million he would have paid it. But theres no way he can pay that much so he has no choice but to go on the offensive & out himself.”
