Biden vows that not ‘another foot’ of border wall would be built under his administration

Although many of the men and women tasked with securing the nation’s borders have advocated for a physical barrier to help cut down on illegal immigration, a number of prominent Democrats are firmly on the record against President Donald Trump’s central campaign promise.

As Breitbart reported, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has vowed to halt all border wall construction if he is elected in November.

“There will not be another foot”

A range of countries around the world use barriers to defend their borders and the issue has been highly debated throughout U.S. history — particularly in recent years.

In a recent interview with journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Biden went on the record with his promise to stop the Trump administration’s progress in its tracks.

“No, there will not be another foot of wall constructed in my administration, number one,” the former vice president said. Instead, he recommended investing in technology-based security measures.

“I’m going to make sure that we have border protection, but it’s going to be based on making sure that we use high-tech capacity to deal with it,” he said, emphasizing an approach that focuses resources on the nation’s points of entry.

Furthermore, he confirmed that he would prevent land confiscation for the purposes of building any barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Withdraw the lawsuits”

“Not going to do it,” Biden said. “Withdraw the lawsuits. We’re out. We’re not going to confiscate the land.”

Trump, of course, has taken a much different approach to the topic. Far beyond a campaign slogan ahead of the 2016 election, the president has continued to tout the effectiveness of a border wall and advocate for its completion throughout his first term.

During a visit to the border in Arizona earlier this year, he declared that the nation’s “border has never been more secure” than it is now.

“This is the most powerful and comprehensive border wall structure anywhere in the world,” he said at the time.

Despite the other crises currently plaguing the nation and world, immigration remains a top priority for politicians and voters alike. With such opposing views up for a vote in November, Americans have an important decision to make.
