Democrats cannot run from the fact that Americans are revolting against Joe Biden’s policies after their results began to hit home.
Efforts to smooth over that reality have backfired on the Democrats.
And Biden was furious when one transcript saw the light of day . . . unless it was just what his campaign wanted.
A lesson in managing expectations
Democrats have lowered the bar, hoping the Republican Party would zero in only on Biden’s supposed like of virility and cognitive abilities and ignore all the still unfolding policy disasters he’s overseen.
Not only would that be a mistake for Republicans but it becomes a win for Joe Biden anytime he halfway stammers out a sentence because the voting public thinks it’ll be word salad every time he opens his mouth.
Saturday Night Live has joked about Biden being strong and lucid “behind closed doors.”
And it’s that “behind closed doors” image the liberal media elites will foster during the home stretch of the campaign, only showing Biden at his best moments.
Many political experts are wondering if a Democrat operation to masterfully manage voter expectations when it comes to Joe Biden’s health may have even involved Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report.
Democrats and their media allies rejoiced when Hur recommended that Joe Biden not be prosecuted in his classified documents case.
Hur said that Biden should not be prosecuted because he was a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
The portion of Hur’s report, in which he said that Biden could not recall the year in which his son Beau died, which most conservatives think is damning, may have been exactly what the Biden campaign was hoping for.
Right on cue, the mainstream media elites went into attack mode against Hur and denounced the question as insensitive, instantly casting the bait right to a GOP consulting class that should know better but doesn’t.
Biden himself said during an impromptu press conference, “There’s even reference that I don’t remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that? I don’t need anyone, I don’t need anyone, to remind me of when he passed away…Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, wasn’t any of their damned business.”
But now the transcripts show it was Biden who inserted Beau into the conversation.
According to those transcripts, it was in the context of questions about Biden’s book that was published in 2017, that Biden himself asked aloud, “What month did Beau die? … Oh God, May 30th.”
A White House attorney then stepped in to inform Biden that his son died in 2015.
Biden responded, “Was it 2015 he died?”
Biden then asked if Donald Trump was elected in 2017, and he was told that Trump was elected in 2016.
The transcripts show that Biden has several lapses in memory.
At one point, Biden asked, “When did I announce for president?”
He had to be told it was 2019.
Later, Biden asked, “Well, if it was 2013 — when did I stop being vice president?”
His attorney informed him that it was 2017.
Biden later asked, “In 2009, am I still vice president?”
On dozens of occasions, Biden said that he did not recall.
Hur asked about a “second tranche” of boxes located behind a rocking chair, and Biden said, “I have no goddamn idea. I didn’t even bother to go through them.”
This isn’t what many attorneys would do if their client kept struggling
But stop and think, any attorney would have absolutely demanded a break if their client was having such a hard time.
But Joe Biden’s attorneys didn’t.
What’s more, if the White House didn’t want the transcripts to get out, Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland – who’s earned a helluva reputation as a non-holds-barred Democrat hatchet man in recent years – would almost surely have stopped it.
The GOP and American voters would be better served to remain focused first and foremost on the policy disasters of Joe Biden and the Democrats’ agenda.
