Former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party officially kicked off their high-dollar general election fundraising operation Saturday evening, with major donors — both his vocal loyalists and those just now getting off the sidelines — gathering in Palm Beach, Florida, to throw support behind the GOP’s presumptive nominee.
For the second time this election cycle, former first lady Melania Trump was publicly seen joining the former president for a political occasion, after she was last seen with her husband publicly at a polling location in Palm Beach on Florida’s primary election day.
The fundraiser, hosted by billionaire John Paulson, has brought in more than $50 million for the Trump campaign and the Republican Party, according to the organizers, which would eclipse President Joe Biden’s fundraiser with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton in New York last weekend, where they said they raised $26 million.
The report quoted Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez as saying in a statement, “It took three Democrat presidents to raise $25 million and one president to raise over $50 million, Donald J. Trump.”
Paulson said in a statement, “Tonight, we raised a historic $50.5 million for the re-election of President Trump. This sold-out event has raised the most in a single political fundraiser in history. This overwhelming support demonstrates the enthusiasm for President Trump and his policies.”

Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Saturday, “Biggest night in Fund Raising of ALL TIME!!! Will double up the Biden number of last week at Radio City. People are desperate for change. They want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! DJT.”
Prior to entering the home of John Paulson, who hosted the event on Saturday, Trump briefly spoke to reporters, and said people are really wanting change.
“This has been some incredible evening before it even starts because people wanted to contribute to a cause of making America great again,” he said, adding that November 5 would go down as the most important day in the history of the country.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who attended the fundraiser, wrote on social media, “Was an honor to join President Trump at his historic $50M fundraiser tonight in Palm Beach. The Republican Party is united behind Trump!”
“Last week, 3 Democratic Presidents and a bunch of Hollywood elites appeared at a Biden campaign event. Their combined presence only raised half of what @realdonaldtrump raised tonight. The American people have had enough of Joe Biden’s failures. They’re ready to return to the Trump economy, a secure Southern Border, and Peace through Strength.”

The Biden-Harris campaign is already in a panic, and trying to twist and spin it.
“Trump outside of his billionaire fundraiser filled with tax avoiders and extremists: Rich people want change… They want to contribute to our cause. (Trump’s “cause” includes giving more massive tax giveaways to his billionaire buddies at the expense of working Americans),” the campaign falsely claimed.

“Joe Biden & the left are losing their minds, because they know Americans from all walks of life are rallying behind Trump. I’m proud to be on the team that will help elect Donald Trump. I’m all in, & I know I’m not alone, because Americans know we were better off under Trump!” he added.
