Officers with Customs and Border Protection arrested two people in the last week, with one wanted for sex crimes against children and the other having a prior arrest regarding a homicide, authorities said.
The apprehension of the former occurred Sunday at the Anzalduas International Bridge when a CBP officer had 40-year-old Jose Ramon Hinojosa Garza referred for a secondary inspection, according to a Tuesday CBP release.
“After escorting the traveler to secondary, biometric verification confirmed his identity along with an active arrest warrant from Bexar County Sheriff’s Department,” the release read. “Hinojosa faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony in the state of Texas.”

HIDALGO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge recently apprehended two individuals wanted for serious crimes; one wanted on an outstanding warrant for a sex crimes against children in San Antonio, the other with a prior arrest for a 2010 homicide in the Dominican Republic.
“CBP officers screen all travelers entering the United States, and that screening resulted in two significant apprehensions,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez from the Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas. “These arrests reinforce and illustrate our officers’ commitment to keeping our communities safe.”
On March 22, at the Hidalgo International Bridge. A CBP officer processing travelers referred a 38-year-old Haitian national man for a secondary inspection. After escorting the traveler to secondary, biometric verification confirmed the man had a prior arrest regarding a 2010 homicide in Dominican Republic. As a result, he was detained and placed under removal proceedings.
On March 24, at the Anzalduas International Bridge. A CBP officer processing travelers referred Jose Ramon Hinojosa Garza, a 40-year-old male U.S. citizen, for a secondary inspection. After escorting the traveler to secondary, biometric verification confirmed his identity along with an active arrest warrant from Bexar County Sheriff’s Department. Hinojosa faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony in the state of Texas.
CBP officers confirmed the warrant to be active. An officer from Mission Police Department took custody of Hinojosa Garza and transported him to the county jail pending extradition to Bexar County.

But that’s not all… Fox News reporter Bill Melugin posted highlights of multiple other illegal alien criminals caught at the border. CBP posted press releases on all four apprehensions on Monday, March 25.
“This is one single day of ICE press releases announcing significant arrests across the US, including a Honduran wanted for murder, a Salvadoran wanted for death squad killings, a Colombian transnational gang member, & a Venezuelan Tren De Aragua gang member arrested for a drive by shooting in Illinois,” Melugin announced.
