Minneapolis has postponed the implementation of its planned minimum wage increase for rideshare drivers following threats from Uber and Lyft to cease operations in the city. Originally scheduled to take effect on May 1, the policy approved by the Minneapolis City Council will require Uber and Lyft to pay their drivers either $1.40 per mile and $0.51 per minute or $5 per ride, ensuring they receive the same hourly wage as the city minimum of $15.57.
