On Tuesday, President Donald Trump accused Twitter of interfering in the upcoming presidential election after the social media giant tagged one of his tweets warning about election fraud as “false.”
Trump: ‘Twitter is now interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election’
“Twitter is now interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election,” Trump tweeted after Twitter presented their new fact check feature on the President’s tweet from earlier that day.
Twitter included a link to his tweet telling users they could “get the facts” about mail-in voting.
“They are saying my statement on Mail-In Ballots, which will lead to massive corruption and fraud, is incorrect, based on fact-checking by Fake News CNN and the Amazon Washington Post,” Trump wrote.

President Trump implied that Twitter could face repercussions for their actions.
“Twitter is completely stifling FREE SPEECH, and I, as President, will not allow it to happen!” Trump wrote.
In the past, Trump has warned Big Tech that censoring conservatives and showing a bias against Republicans would not be tolerated.
President Trump has also shown a willingness to cooperate with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
Trump met with Dorsey in April 2019 to discuss these issues and thanked him for “keeping an open dialogue.”
Great meeting this afternoon at the @WhiteHouse with @Jack from @Twitter. Lots of subjects discussed regarding their platform, and the world of social media in general. Look forward to keeping an open dialogue! pic.twitter.com/QnZi579eFb

Vice President Mike Pence Echoes Trump on Social Media Censoring Conservatives
Vice President Mike Pence made it clear earlier that President Trump would not have censorship of conservatives on these platforms.
“Well, the president has made it very clear that we are not going to tolerate censorship on the Internet and social media against conservatives,” Pence told Breitbart News during an interview on SiriusXM.

Praising conservative media, Pence added, “The great news is there are—in addition to Breitbart—there are great and consistent voices bringing the facts to the American people.”
“While many in the mainstream media have been after this president, after this administration, since before our inauguration, it’s been that chorus of voices on the Internet that have brought forth the truth and the facts to the American people,” the vice president said.
