Marc Mallory, the husband of Michigan’s Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, reportedly tried to have his boat placed in the water before Memorial Day weekend, an apparent violation of her very own coronavirus guidelines.
Whitmer has implemented some of the most draconian stay-at-home orders in the nation, recently extending them until the middle of June despite mounting criticism and anti-lockdown protests.
According to the owner of a Northern Michigan dock company, Mallory not only tried to get access to his boat, but he allegedly tried to cut the line by citing his wife’s prominent position.
“This morning, I was out working when the office called me, there was a gentleman on hold who wanted his boat in the water before the weekend,” Tad Dowker, owner of the company posted to Facebook. “Being Memorial weekend and the fact that we started working three weeks late means there is no chance this is going to happen.”
“Well our office personnel had explained this to the man,” Dowker continued, “and he replied, ‘I am the husband to the governor, will this make a difference?’”
Rules for thee, but not for me in Mallory’s mind.
Last week Gretchen Whitmer asked Michigan residents “not to descend” on the Northern Michigan lakefronts for the Memorial Day Weekend
What did her husband do?
Ask for preferential treatment to get his boat docked so he and his family could enjoy their weekend.

The Hypocrisy is Rich
To make matters worse, Whitmer’s husband was trying to jump the line in an area where she explicitly told residents who don’t reside there to stay away.
“If you don’t live in these regions … think long and hard before you take a trip into them,” Whitmer said in an announcement prior to Memorial Day weekend.
“A small spike could put the hospital system in dire straits pretty quickly. That’s precisely why we’re asking everyone to continue doing their part,” she continued. “Don’t descend on [waterfront] Traverse City from all regions of the state.”
The couple has a main residence in Lansing and a vacation property 25 minutes away from Traverse City.
Gov. Whitmer is a hypocrite.
She told citizens not to travel, not to visit lakes.
Then her husband tried to get a special exception to get HIS boat on the lake… https://t.co/huImSlJGpb

If it were anybody else, Whitmer’s husband trying to use his wife’s position for personal gain might be frowned upon. But as Joe Biden continues to vet Whitmer as his vice-presidential selection, it may actually be a resume enhancer.
Biden’s brothers and son, after all, have been using his elected office to profit for decades.
Whitmer, whom the President has dubbed “Governor ‘Half’ Whitmer,” has claimed protests against her stay-at-home orders amidst the coronavirus crisis have been fueled by racism.
Meaning her husband must fall into that category.
