Not that it likely matters much to former President Donald Trump, but it was revealed this week that he won’t be receiving an endorsement from a key member of his previous administration.
According to Politico, former Vice President Mike Pence recently told Fox News that he will not endorse Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
“It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year,” Pence said, making it clear that he has no intentions of getting behind his former boss.
Pence and Trump had a somewhat nasty falling out in the wake of the 2020 election. Pence, once loved by Trump’s massive base, is not a popular figure among MAGA supporters, to put it kindly.
The former vice president tossed his hat in the ring for the Republican nomination for this cycle but jumped out of the race early after he realized his support was minimal, at best.
Mike Pence’s refusal to endorse Trump is actually a much better endorsement for Trump than had he actually endorsed Trump. https://t.co/zqn0Cgqbmj

Pence was asked specifics about how he came to the decision not to offer an endorsement for his former boss. He said he’s proud of the role he had during their administration but noted that the differences between them were too great to overcome, in addition to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot situation.
“I’m incredibly proud of the record of our administration,” Pence told Fox News.
He added, “But that being said, during my presidential campaign, I made it clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues. And not just our differences on our constitutional duties that I exercised on Jan. 6.”
The former vice president was asked specifically about the issues in which he differs with his former boss. He noted several, including Trump’s reversal on banning TikTok, the national debt, and the abortion issue.
“In each of these cases,” Pence noted, adding, “Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years.”
Social media users reacted to Pence’s non-endorsement.
“Pence is just paying his dues at the RINO club,” one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, “Absolutely. Mike and his pet fly can sit this one out.”
