Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appeared on NewsNation’s Cuomo on Monday night and discussed content moderation on social media and the rumors about tech entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan being his running mate.
Host Chris Cuomo also confronted RFK Jr. about members of the Kennedy family visiting the White House for St. Patrick’s Day. A photo of the Kennedy family members standing with Biden at the White House was shared on Sunday, and Cuomo cut to the chase and asked his guest about the message that was sent.
“Here is a lot of your family, okay, gathered around Joe Biden,” Cuomo said. “They all put out messages that are all about the same thing, which is, ‘Go, Joe! We support you.’”
“What does it mean when the people who know you best say Joe Biden is better than their own brother, uncle, cousin?” he then asked.

“Although that looks like a big crowd of people, it is a very small percentage of my family,” Kennedy replied. “Last July 4, I think there were 105 people at the Cape. And many other family members are working for my campaign, many other family members support it. The family members who, as you know, from your family, we don’t always agree on things.”
“There are many people in my family, who worked for the Biden administration. President Biden is an old friend of my family,” he continued. “I understand that many of them disagree with me on the war in Ukraine. They disagree with me on COVID, on some of the public health issues, they disagree with me on the free speech issue. So you know, we can we can disagree with each other in a friendly way and still love each other.”
Not only did RFK Jr. suggest the photo was politically motivated, saying he “played a role” in “facilitating” the Kennedy family visiting the White House, but the presidential candidate got in a clever shot at the Biden administration for denying him Secret Service protection.
“They look very happy in that photograph. And you know, it’s very exhilarating, it’s intoxicating, being in the White House,” he said. “And I’m glad I got to, I played a role I think in facilitating that visit to the White House and bringing them all such happiness, so I’m happy about that.”
“I do hope that at least a couple of them took the time to talk to President Biden and ask him to provide me Secret Service protection,” RFK Jr. added.
On his potential vice presidential pick, Kennedy kept the drama alive when he referenced both Shanahan and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“I would never choose a vice presidential candidate based on how much money that they have,” he said in reference to Shanahan, who was married to Google co-founder and billionaire Sergey Brin.
“I talked to Aaron, as you pointed out, I’ve talked to many, many others…. I talked to Nicole,” Kennedy continued. “There’s some of the same reasons, they’re young. We, our campaign — one of the principal priorities of our campaign is bringing young people into politics and addressing the deprivation that is now and the hopelessness that is affecting this generation.
“Nicole, like Aaron Rodgers, has been interested in regenerative agriculture and press freedom, in ending the chronic disease epidemic in addressing the terrible national debt — $34 trillion dollars again, that’s hitting these young people. So, you know, I like both of them.”
