Virginia is still in a big mess because Democrats are introducing laws for more gun control.
Americans around the country celebrated the successful, peaceful demonstration of Second Amendment patriots this week.
Over twenty thousand residents gathered to tell Virginia to get their hands off of their guns.
Smart lawmakers probably would have taken a hint from these Virginians, but Virginia Democrats didn’t learn their lesson.
In fact, things are getting even hotter.
Not only are they trying to get rid of Virginia resident’s gun rights, but they are now going after their free speech too.
From Big League Politics:
House Bill 1627 was introduced by Delegate Jeffrey M. Bourne last week. The laws “provides that certain crimes relating to threats and harassment may be prosecuted in the City of Richmond if the victim is the Governor, Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor-elect, Attorney General, or Attorney General-elect, a member or employee of the General Assembly, a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, or a judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.”
Take a look at the phrasing of that bill very carefully.
It says that it will be against the law for a resident to make “threats and harassment” against the governor and other members of the government.
Threats are one thing, but what defines “harassment”? Does that mean getting in someone’s face and jeopardizing their personal safety?
Or does it include simply criticizing them on Twitter?
This law, like so many others, could be twisted to endanger a Virginia resident’s freedom of speech.
We have free speech for a reason. It’s so American citizens can call out our leaders when they disagree.
Governor, you might lose a chunk of your state to West Virginia if you pass your gun laws.
What do you think will happen if you pass a law outlawing freedom of speech? Even worse.
Let’s hope if they are crazy enough to pass this bill—a firestorm of lawsuits will be their reward.
SHARE if you stand with freedom-loving Virginians, not the Democrats!
