In the midst of a gun control push that includes a ban on firearms training and a wide-ranging gun registration regime, Virginia Democrats and scandal-tarred governor Ralph Northam are threatening dissident counties that are choosing to declare themselves to be ‘Second Amendment Sanctuaries’ in defiance.
When asked about the growing movement to create Second Amendment sanctuaries in the state on Friday, Northam responded with a concerning threat to those who chose to defy the state government’s push for gun control.
“If we have constitutional laws on the books and law enforcement officers are not enforcing those laws on the books, then there are going to be some consequences but I’ll cross that bridge if and when we get to it.”
Even more radical Democrats called for the use of the National Guard to enforce Northam’s gun control laws in localities where law enforcement have declined to enforce assault weapons bans and red flag laws.
“I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” said far-left state representative Donald McEachin. “That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.”

Bloomberg has funded state legislators that hope to push the mandatory gun registration plan into a full confiscation, in which existing semiautomatic rifle owners would have to surrender their lawfully owned guns to the state government.
