Barstool founder Dave Portnoy shared a video online celebrating the news that Deadspin’s new Europe-based parent company, Lineup Publishing, laid off the entire staff.
Floating around in a pool with a bottle of champagne, Portnoy recorded his reaction to the loss of yet another left-leaning media site.
“Listen, even I’m getting confused,” he said. “How many times can I pop a bottle for the same godd*mn company? How many times can I kill Deadspin? How many times can Julie DiCaro lose her godd*mn job? It seems like infinity!”
“But here we are once again. New bottle of champagne,” Portnoy continued. “Deadspin out of business, bought, everyone fired for the 90th straight time. This is just kicking a dead-ass dog. But you know what? I’m not beyond it.”

After popping the cork on the bottle he was holding, Portnoy said, “Here we go, to Deadspin. Everybody getting fired again. Those motherf*ckers just don’t get it. Being miserable. Hating life. Never laughing. It’s never gonna pay the bills. See you motherf*ckers on the employment line again.”
Portnoy poured some of the bottle’s contents into his mouth before spitting it out to cry, “Victory!”
It wasn’t that long ago that Deadspin was in the news for essentially defaming a young Kansas City Chiefs fan for wearing “blackface” at an NFL game.
The Daily Beast reported that the staff were locked out of their accounts and told to leave immediately.
“Deadspin’s new owners have made the decision not to carry over any of the site’s existing staff and instead build a new team more in line with their editorial vision for the brand,” G/O CEO Jim Spanfeller said in an email, according to the outlet. “While the new owners plan to be reverential to Deadspin’s unique voice, they plan to take a different content approach regarding the site’s overall sports coverage.”
DiCaro, the now-former editor, opted to burn the place down on her way out the door.
“Deadspin has been sold to European startup – not taking any of the staff. We were just told that today is our last day. Gotta love this company, who never listened to us or our ideas about what was or wasn’t working,” she tweeted

Dave is a fucking spiteful champion. He has bottles with names on them that he pops when others fail. Barstool is a fucking machine that makes money and Dave knows how to sail that pirate ship.

For those who don’t know who Ms. Peaches is. “Dave Portnoy is the founder of Barstool Sports who gained attention for adopting an American pit bull named Miss Peaches. Miss Peaches was rescued from a hoarding and breeding situation in Atlanta. Dave Portnoy’s efforts to raise…
