Man shot downtown accused of fatally stabbing his mom

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — A man accused of fatally stabbing his own mom on Sunday night is now in custody after being shot in downtown Indianapolis.

Vinson Edge, 39, accused of stabbing his mom Vickie Edge to death, was injured in a Monday shooting around 6:30 p.m at Pennsylvania and Maryland streets in Indianapolis, police confirmed. The people involved in the shooting stayed at the scene, and all of them were connected to the Speedway stabbing investigation, according to Indianapolis police.

Speedway police around 8:22 p.m. said in a tweet that Vinson Edge was in custody.

Police were called to the 5400 block of White Horse Road just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a stabbing. Police arrived to find the woman, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
