Major Mathew Golsteyn Case Being Reviewed by White House

The murder case we previously reported against Maj Mathew Golsteyn is being reviewed by the White House,  according to President Trump.

“The case of Major Mathew Golsteyn is now under review at the White House. Mathew is a highly decorated Green Beret who is being tried for killing a Taliban bombmaker. We train our boys to be killing machines, then prosecute them when they kill!” President Trump

Fox reported:

“Golsteyn was charged with premeditated murder in the death of the suspected militant in 2010. An initial investigation by the Army didn’t find sufficient evidence to bring charges.

The Army opened a second investigation in 2016 and charged Golsteyn in December 2018. He could face life in prison if convicted…

“Number one: they made it obvious that they will go to any length to convict Matt,” she [Golstyen’s mom] told host Pete Hegseth. “And, they put a CID (Criminal Investigation Division) agent on the stand who very proudly admitted to reaching out to regional warlord with ties to the Taliban to come up with family witnesses. Family of the Taliban bombmaker that Matt lawfully engaged in a targeted way,” she said.

“Plus, the fact that they’re negotiating with terrorists. President Trump has broken off all negotiations with the Taliban in Afghanistan and they’re, behind his back, negotiating with them,” Golsteyn lamented.”

Golsteyn received a Silver Star for his actions, and was recommended for upgrade to the Distinguished Service Cross. Then those decorations were stripped from him, along with his Special Forces Tab.

How is it that when war heroes kill the enemy that they come home to be charged with murder? Mathew Golsteyn has been under investigation for 9 years now- after the initial investigation could find no evidence of wrong-doing. If he had not killed the bomb-maker, many more troops might have died.

The US government never seems to get the idea that radical Islamists LIE.  It’s part of their culture – so talking to the Taliban about this is a fools mission. And it’s not the first time our prosecutors have egregiously pursued prosecution of people who did not deserve it.

Currently, Blackwater contractor Nick Slatten continues to languish in prison because of killing an Iraqi he did not kill. Someone else already confessed to the killing in the midst of a chaotic situation in Baghdad’s Nisur Square. But the government, because they want to appease foreigners, prosecuted him to the hilt. After charging him yet again after finding there was no evidence, and after a mistrial, he was re-sentenced to life in September 2019. Why? Because the judge refused to let the jury hear exculpatory evidence, among other things.

Will President Trump be able to stop this case in its tracks? He managed to intervene for Eddie Gallagher, but can he do it this time?  We’re waiting to see.
